Having achieved everything possible in the major European leagues and in international football on FM2010, I decided to try for the English Hero achievement - attempting promotion from the Blue Square North / South to the Premier League. I thought I'd start with one of the bigger clubs in this division, just to make a bit easier, as I know very little about non-league football, and had no idea if the tactics I'd devised would work.

I started with AFC Telford, and found that there is no reason you can't play the same tactics with lower league players as with the best players in the world. Naturally they don't utilise them quite as efficiently, but they nevertheless can play short, passing football effectively. I managed three consecutive promotions with Telford, before getting stuck in League One for a few seasons, and then getting stuck in the Championship for a few seasons. Without doubt, the gulf between the divisions gets bigger, the higher up the league you get.

I finally managed to achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2019. It took another nine years of steadily building the club up, to reach the point at which we were ready to challenge for the League title. I finally won, after a lot of time and effort, in the 2027 - 28 season. The Masters degree I'm studying for has suffered somewhat, but this seems like a much bigger achievement! I have attached some screenshots, and also a guide that I have written outlining some of my strategies and opinions on how to approach the game. Hope you find them useful.

Good, detailed guide that could help alot of users here, but was it worth all that on a game than missing out on a Master's Degree XD

What was your starting eleven
Well, by the time I won the Premier League with Telford, none of the players that I had are real, so telling you my starting eleven would be pretty useless information! In my view good, relatively cheap top-class players to get when the game starts out are GK - Akinfeev, CB - Danny Wilson, El Kaoutari RB - Srna, LB - Thiago Carleto DM - Sandro, CM - Fellaini, Rodwell, AM - Carlos Eduardo, CF - Lukaku, Dzeko. You can get all of these relatively cheaply, and they all are either already world-class, or become so within a couple of years. Lukaku must be the biggest bargain on the game.

Thanks for your concern, mate, but don't worry I'm still on course to pass! Speaking of which, better do some now...
