Today at AFC Wimbledon's kit launch chairman Eric Samuelson announced a new rule surrounding the transfer system of AFC Wimbledon. Mr. Samuelson said "Too long have clubs relied on foreign players, I will prove to the world that you can climb to the top using only local players. From now on AFC Wimbledon will only sign players from the United Kingdom and Ireland." This has came as a shock to most fans, also it is believed manager Terry Brown resigned after Samuelson pitched him his idea and is to be replaced by relatively unknown manager Andy Burns.

The semi-pro club has amazed footballing critics with this new rule, which may result in the sale of Don's players; Kennedy Adjel (Ghanaian) and Elliot Godfrey (Canadian). However we wait to see whether this rule is for players who were born in England or Ireland or those who have British Citizenship. We can only watch in wonder as this spectacle unfolds. More to come..

Adjel is a beast,shame :P
Try get Rossi Jarvis,he's english, cheap and superb for the conference and L2

good luck for this mate, ill be following, ive always tried to have a domestic player bias of 90%+ because i believe in home grown players, i think ill start one in Spain. anyway, good luck mate :)

In an attempt you avoid losing Don's fans, Mr. Samuelson is trying to involve them via. the club website and several of the fan's forums. With one important question..

What should the transfer rule be?

A) Only players born in UK & Ireland can play
B) Anybody with a British Citizenship can play

If you wish to get involved then please vote at the top of the screen now :)

by the way, got to be only players who are british home grown, players like in manciennes case should be allowed, but born in the british isles will make it alot more demanding and harder, which may get more people following :)

British citizenship ftw ;)

Good luck mate.

Good Luck Andy. I tried the same thing in my Fergie story... its alot harder and expect to pay some hefty transfer fees. I went for British only as it stops the likes of Almunia being eligible.

Well the vote couldn't be closer, with July 1st drawing near, Mr. Samuelson wants the poll closed by 9.30PM tonight so get your votes in!

**** i just lost to AFC Wimbeldon in London Senior Cup Final (6)

Well the votes have been counted and it was one of the closest polls we've ever seen! Here are the results:

Players Born in UK & Ireland
51.7%
Anyone With a British Citizenship 48.3%

Well there we have it, only players born in the UK or Ireland can now play for AFC Wimbledon. A surprise result, considering this could see the sale of several key players. Expect a press conference from Mr. Samuelson and his new manager sometime soon..

I Felt Sorry For You there m,ate , Untill I Read the Words Senior Cup.

July 7th - 22nd:

The season begins here for Andy Burns. First act of business for the young manager is to offer mutual termination to all staff currently working for AFC Wimbledon and immediately start a search for a new coaching team. A day later he obtained the services of physio Steve Whitehall and assistant manager Ian Banks. Andy Burns then went on to sign two scouts, a fitness coach and goalkeeping coach over the next week.

As AFC Wimbledon's footballing rule states, only players born in the UK & Ireland may play for the club, which resulted in the sales of Elliot Godfrey (Free + Clauses) & Kennedy Adjel (£1K). Two of the Don's top players. He then went on to release wage sponges Aaron Snelling, Tommy Rose and Andy Little.

The side needed strengthened heavily if they were to challenge at all this season, Burns made two loan signings in Adam Watts and Antonio German. And also brought in former Leeds youth Jason Mycoe on a free transfer.
