Akinfeev free transfer trouble

I know there are loads of threads about getting akinfeev and ribery on frees
for some strange reason i apparently have to pay 4.6 million compen to sign akinfeev
why is this if his contract is up?

well it is russia but if you dont want to pay anything then you have to wait a week or two after his contract has run out, then you get him for free

No he is still young enough to merit a compensation fee, so no mistake there.

People acquire him on a free at the end of the season when his contract has actually expired and he is released/chooses to leave.

A player 24 or under has the compensation penned to him as he is under 24 unless he is released like people above said (H)

The Russian leagues is slightly different. If a player signs a pre-contract agreement with a club before his current contract is up, the club that he moves to has to pay compensation. I signed Contofalsky from Zenit on a 'free', and had to pay 750k to acquire him.

I am now very confussed as Arsenal have signed him on a free in the January.
