Alan Dzagoev Tactics?

Hi, im sunderland and ive bought alan dzagoev for 5 million. ive heard he is a great midfielder and will get even better. except he isnt playing very well for me, no goals and only 3 assists in 15 appearances. ive tried him in advanced midfield, his preferred position and also in centre mid, still no much improvement. anyone got any tips to see him play better? his role is advanced playmaker and creativity and such is quite high, so im not sure where its going wrong.

Just use him as a standard attacking midfielder with attack duty
