Season 1
Got the YoungHearts job in New Zealand. I had never managed on this continent before so it was new.
I was delighted to win the league at my first attempt. The team were predicted to finish 4th.
As League Champions we qualified for the Oceanic Champions League which we won. The opposition wasn't up to much but my boys made as hard a job of it as they could!
2 tournaments entered so far, 2 wins.
Not a lot to work with really, so had to wheel and deal a bit.
Aaron Burgess was an excellent signing on a free.
Soroman was my super sub and ended up top scorer!

The Next Chapter
The best supported club in Australia's Hyundai A League, Melbourne Victory, approached me a few weeks before the O League final. I reluctantly rejected their approach as I wanted to win the O League with YoungHearts and hopefully tick off the first trophy on my Continental Dominance list.
I was delighted that they approached me again, a surprise after I had rejected them. I managed to delay my decision for a week and was offered the job the day after my O League victory. Leaving YoungHearts on a high.
As the A League season runs differently to the very short NZ league they were sitting in a disappointing 5th place in the League Table upon my arrival. Although they had qualified for the next stage of the Australian top league tournament.
I was chuffed to see that Melbourne had done well enough in the previous season to still be taking part in the Asian Champions League. There were 2 games to go in Group H when I took over. Things were looking pretty gloomy but I was delighted to get a taste of this tournament so early in my career in Oz.
AFC Game 5 a tremendous performance by my new team. Is there hope of securing the 2nd spot against all odds? It would take the other group result to go in my favour to give me any chance of qualification.
I ended up qualifying after 2 good performance away from home and the other result going in my favour. I don't think my squad is strong enough to go all the way this season but we'll see.
Suwon were a different class. Thoroughly deserved their win. I've enjoyed my first taste of the Asian Champions League and now know what areas of the squad need to be improved.
