Just finished my second season at Manchester City, and board said they were pleased with me as manager. But a couple of weeks later, they sacked me after I lost to Spurs in Europa League final. This has happened numerous times before :(. Anyone know why???

Maybe it was their minimum expectation to win the europa league?

Theyre very expectant because of the funds they give you so theyre impatient.

They want success but you didn't deliver. It happens, try a club with lower expectation so you have the freedo, to build a squad without the pressure to win

Board expected me to qualify for Europe again, which I did by finishing 2nd in League.

Man City is so easy, just buy a squad of world beaters cant go wrong with that

What were there expectations for the Europa League? Maybe they wanted you to win it...

The City owners stated that they want success in Europe, and that means "Win the Europa League" in simple English.

The board told me to QUALIFY for Europe, not WIN. I did what they told me to do, and still got sacked. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Yes, but on one of the expectation pages, it goes down in detail what the board expect. They highlight what they want in the PL, and thats the main objective.

But then it has stuff like Europa League, FA Cup, and Carling cup expectations- And then fans opinions on the players you have signed etc. They probably expected you to win the Europa League.

I was with Everton in their first season and as I had a good squad I set my expectations to 'Title Challenge', I came 3rd in the Premier League with only Arsenal and Chelsea finishing above me, I didn't win the F.A. Cup or the Carling Cup, and I got sacked, so if you set the expectations so high that you can't achieve them, then you will be sacked at the end of the season...

Both seasons I set expectations to 'Continental Qualification from League Finish', which I did 2 seasons running and got the sack.
