Am I buying the wrong strikers?

Hi, I'm new in the game and this is my first save. Each one of my games looks like this, sometimes I can get to 20 shots on target and 0 goals and I don't know if I am just buying bad strikers or the game is supposed to be like this. I find that my team creates very good chances but they just keep missing ALL of them (I play a 3-4-1-2), doesn't matter if it's a 1v1, header, long shot, simple shot, whatever it is, they miss it.

Is this average FM experience or should I focus on better scouting?

They are decent players for Ipswich, shooting much by itself doesnt mean nothing, how manny opportunities they created? I had matches where i created 3 clear chances and 5 half chances and won the matches by 1-0 or even draw.

They rarely create the opportunities themselves. Mostly they just have to tap the ball in but they don't seem able to, just so you get an idea, I'm top 1 in the league for expected goals but I'm out of playoffs in the actual table (playing championship). Maybe the game is supposed to be like this but I find it strange tbh.

Well, that's unusuall, if your team as high XPG. For Sky Bet i always try to get Nketiah or Ryan Brewster.
