I have been Playing this series since the days of Championship Manager 1, and ive built up vastly experienced knowledge of the game up to now. but when I was playing those early games I was a teenager with plenty of time on my hands and the games were not that difficult but immensely fun and addictive as always.

But those days have gone and im all grown up haha! so i work long days and long shifts, and as much as I still enjoy the series and Dont have the time to put in all the effort needed to be successful in the game any more so I constantly find myself on these websites looking for quick fixes and tactics when I fancy a game on my days off. so I thought wouldn't it be a good idea if the Si guys offered an option at the start of the game where you could strip the game down to an easier setting for people who just want to play casually and still enjoy the series and use more of a plug and play version like the old days?

I know there are hardcore FM players on here who wouldn't bother with that because it wouldn't be as rewarding which they are right it wouldn't be for them....but for the old generation who dont have the time anymore but still want to enjoy the series it would be a nice option dont you think

Thoughts??

P.S if you enjoy the current FM and have no problem with time and commitment for the series, great!, then this post isn't for you

Or you could build a time machine to be young again! Like me!

yeah I agree. it's a problem.-they do have the iphone game - have you tried that?
as long as you don't have a slow PC there is a slight workaround;
You simply set up your own rules to make it a faster game yourself and play it with less depth.

E.g.
You only watch games on text mode,but keep up certain screens for info. E.g. Your assistants, their formation etc. To make it more plug and play you make your assistant have 20 on all stats to give you the best info possible and save you time having to research things yourself
Put all contracts in Assistant Managers hands etc
You can take it further.
Say you haven't got time to scout etc- maybe you allow yourself to look up players on something like "FM scout" but set yourself a time limit. Say 3mins per 4 months or something.

The idea being you strip out the bits you don't want to focus on as much etc etc

Another option; you accept it will take much longer to complete a season, so you don't worry about long-term objectives as much or playing a 10 season game etc, but focus more of the enjoyment of each match-takes some adjusting but is possible.
And/or you buy the game less frequently-e.g. have 2 years? It's hard though - the days of bashing out a season in a day or two seem long gone

yeah your right about those days being long gone, tried this thread on a different website and you'd think id walk into the SI offices and pi**ed on the employers! haha,

it'a probably a devicesive subject. Same with how much time people spend on the game. and it's also a general trend in games.
Lots of games have become more immersive and complex- and their are great benefits of this.
But it can also mean they take up more time or mental energy- a commodity that can be hard depending on one's lifestyle. the flipside is the new wii type games that are very much plug and play, but catered for an audience that never really played games much. It's the audience in the middle (i.e. you) that are literally between a rock and a hard place.

I've picked up this game again after many years away (check my 1st post here on it http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...rning-football-manager-loving-game-again.html ) but it's because I do have some time on my hands to play it again and feel playing can actually help me in my life. I doubt I'll be able to once my life is back on track and I will be sad when that happens, as though it took some time to get into, it really has been a joy getting back into the game, and I've found it lots of fun and am enjoying the depth it has now.

A couple of other ideas I forgot to mention;

-You get yourself a copy of FMRTE - again it's a controversial subject. But I see nothing wrong in using it if you want. I don't but would consider it to make my game faster/simpler. If you don't know it's a save game editor (it costs a euro, but is worth it, if it saves lots of time etc). Same with Fm scout that can allow you to see all the hidden stats and not have to faff around with scout reports etc and therefore save time- you do lose out on certain aspects i am finding fun, but will make things much faster. Set yourself up some pre-determined guidelines of how you want to use them

Another option- you get the freeware version of CM 01/02. It's available legally for free to download and there are dedicated websites that have it updated with the latest transfers and someone also found the code, so the game can start any year you want-i.e. you can start from season 2012 etc. it was a great game, with a decent level of depth, but you can get through it fast with today's computers. I think their may be the equivalent with some earlier versions of FM- maybe 07 or 09 I think I may have read, with up to date transfers etc, but you'll have to look into that
