Hi all,
This is a story about an online game a friend and I started shortly after release of the game. Currently we are in our 11th season in the Eredivisie. We've been thinking about sharing our experiences before, but never really got to it. There is an imminent situation right now, and we could do with some advice on how to solve it. But I'll get to that later.
First let me fill you in about the previous 10 seasons. We decided to start in the Eredivisie with the teams we both support, which happen to be the biggest rivals in Holland. My mate (Bo) started with Feyenoord and I (Pumba) started with Ajax. Apart from our individual goals we both wanted to raise the reputation of the Eredivisie and see if we could claim 2 direct qualification spots for the Champions League. In order for that to happen we had to raise the European ranking of the Eredivisie from 9th to 6th place. We're currently close to achieving that goal with the Eredivisie being the 7th ranked competition, closely behind Portugal.

Season 1-5 Feyenoord & Ajax:
In the first season Bo immediately claimed the league with Feyenoord, 4 points ahead of - surprise of the season - Ado den Haag. Pumba disappointingly finished 3rd with Ajax, but came back strong the following four seasons winning the league pretty much uncontested. Bo's Feyenoord went through a bit of a rough patch, finishing 4th, 7th, 5th and 2nd. A dismissal loomed over the Feyenoord boss, but the board kept faith in the manager who delivered their first Eredivisie win in 2016 since 1999! Pumba, frustrated not being able to deliver in Europe and looking for a new challenge domestically, resigned the Ajax position in 2020 after being knocked out by AS Roma in the first knockout round of the Champions League.
Season 6-10 Feyenoord & Ado den Haag:
Pumba didn't stay unemployed for long, and took up the Ado den Haag job in 2020/2021. After the club's initial success of finishing 2nd in 2016, the club relegated in 2017 but managed to win promotion in 2019. The first season Pumba's Ado finished 11th, but managed to get together a team of promising players, finishing 2nd, 3rd, 3rd and 2nd the following seasons, missing out on the title in 2025 by just 1 point (drawing the final day of the season 1-1 away at AZ)! Meanwhile Bo's Feyenoord enjoyed mixed success, winning a couple of domestic cups and reaching the Europa League final in 2024, only to lose against AC Milan after extra time. Domestically Ajax' dominance proved to be too strong with new managers Ralk Rangnick and Sergiy Rebrov winning the league all 5 seasons and Feyenoord finishing 2nd, 4th, 5th, 4th and 3rd.

Season 11 Feyenoord & Ado den Haag:
Currently we're in our 11th season with only 5 matches to go. Ajax finally showed some signs of weakness with some key players getting older and both Feyenoord an Ado ready to capitalize. Bo looking for his first league win in 10 years and Pumba looking for his first real trophy at Ado den Haag (only winning the Dutch super cup in 2022). The current standings are as follows:

In this save we've played some thrilling matches against each other, including domestic cup finals, but without a doubt this must be the most important match we've ever played. Yesterday evening we started the match with a collective heart rate of 230+. In all our matches we've never experienced bugs or crashes, but would you believe it, in this all deciding match the game crashes in the 64th minute at 1-1. We quickly reload the game and again the game crashes around the same minute with the score this time being 0-1. Ofcourse this is not just immersion breaking but it also affects the strategies we employ (hmm this high defensive line is not working 2 games in a row..). We decided to load up the game a third time and we managed to not crash the game this time. Ado won the third game 0-2 but Feyenoord was heavily affected by an early red card (which didn't happen in the first game). You can see this is not an easy situation, so we would love some suggestions on how to solve this fairly!
We plan to continue this save until the start of FM2017, so if people are interested we can continue posting in this thread, including more detailed information about tactics, players, etc.
