as the topic says, im getting ****** of this throw in bug. for me its clearly a bug, since you cant really defend them. the situation does always look like that: opposition has a throw in my own third, they fail to make a long on into my penalty box, my defender tries to clear it, but the ball lands to the feets of the opposition midfielder, who lurks outside the area and either he gets a 20yard screamer or he has plenty of time to play that killer ball. well you could say, that its clearly a missdefending, since defenders should never clear the ball centrally, but the thing, which is really getting on my nerves is, that my central midfielders, non of them stays outside the box and marking the midfielders/strikers of the opposition, who are waiting in front of the box. instead of that, one winger is marking the opposition, who comes for a short throw in, the other one aswell and the rest is just staying too deep in my penalty box, so that there are almos 2,3 opposition players unmarked outside the box. it really sounds mad, but almos 50% of the goals, i conceded last season, came from these kind of situations. the opposition can defend them pretty well, since i never scored from a throw in, so there might be a solution. i hope, somebody can help me.
thx in advance

never happened to me
probably depends on the tactic you are using
every one of them has got its own flaw, and probably that's yours
set pieces editor doesn't cover defensive throw ins, so what i suggest to do is to set a more defensive mentality to one of your CM or, if you're using a classic tactic, right-click him towards the centre of the defence

Change your match preparation to 'Defensive Positioning'

mate, the problem is, that the cms are too defensive. they are in my own penalty box and leave the opposition cms, who are lurking outside the area alone.
do you think, that attacking settings for throw ins do also have an impact on defending throw ins?
im using a 4411 formation.

does it happen the same for corners? because if the position the players take for long throws are the same they take when defending a corner kick, then you can set at least one CM to stay outside the area
i never checked if long throws defensively count as corners-alike, but it may be. i noticed that when the opposition gets a free kick on the side of the goal area, my full-backs defend on the posts just like when i defend on a corner, so basically there's the chance that they can do this as well for throw-ins

im going to try out both, since its really very annoying. imagine, ive created a new tactic (4411) playing my first champions league game away against lyon, bashing dem 3-7 with my tottenham side and 2 of 3 goals came from throw ins and one from corner. didnt really frustrate me, as i scored 7, but i cant score 7 in every game. the thing is, ive noticed that i have in both, corners and throw ins only one player lurking outside (amc) one mc is told to stay back and man mark and the other one come short and man mark. maybe this could be the reason, why one of my mcs is always coming short to defend throw ins aswell.
