Basically, I can't play FM atm because of this.

I can't go on preferences and click on what skin to choose because there isnt an option to once I click preferences it goes nuts.

Anyhelp would be great. :)

Ouch, unlucky mate, maybe delete the skin from the 'Skins' folder? <)

Maybe uninstall and reinstall

Alas, my brother has my disk, and he is about 120 miles away. If I installed with a disk but also onto steam, can I reinstall using steam?

This happened to me when i put my skin in c program files i then changed it to my documents sports interactive and it worked

Erhm, this may or may not work but its worth a go. I'm not used to skins as I haven't really used them, but if there is a skins folder then its worth going into it, copying and pasting the original fm skin and re-name it to the black one your using. Maybe it'll load that up thinking it is the skin thats meant to be used and... yeah give it a go. :D

Didn't work! :( I am still looking for some Ideas on this, if not I will reinstall on the weekend.

Sorry it didnt work. Was worth a try, eh? My only solution would be to uninstall and reinstall but save your games.

If you can get the code off your brother which came with the original disc then maybe you can install over again with steam.

I have reinstalled, and it has stayed the same!? :S

Here's what I found about "black screen" on Google.

And here:

There is a file called appdata in your user file. and then a sports interactive file inside the appdata file.
Just delete the sports interactive file and FM will work fine!!!
oh, and one more thing, the appdata file is a hidden file so be sure to go to fileoptions first and select "show hidden files".

This too:

Another one:

If none of those aren't working for you, then I give up. Good luck.

This is most likely to be fixed from what I gave you.

If you don't understand what it says, find in the last link I gave you about White/Black Screen:

There are three probable causes for you getting a white or black frozen screen upon starting the game.

The First reason could be that your Cache files have become corrupted and deleting them will fix the issue.

To do this follow either of these paths depending on your Operating System.

Windows XP:
C:\Users\<User Name\App Data\

Vista and 7:
C:\Users\<User Name>\App Data\Roaming

Once you can see inside those folders delete the Sports Interactive Folder.

If you can’t see those folders you will have to make “Hidden” files viewable.

For Vista and 7:
In a window, go to 'Organize'->'Folder and Search Options'->'View'-> and select 'Show hidden files and folders'.

For XP:
Make sure you are able to see hidden folders:
When in a window, go to 'Tools'->'Folder Options'->'View'-> and make sure 'Show hidden files and folders' is selected.
