I need some help, i have chosen to go with everton for my first game. So far i have 4 points; Played 8 W 1 D 1 L 6. I'm struggling to create any decent tactics for my team.

Do you have any tips you can give me regarding transfer strategies and what tactics to use

Thanks.

Well if your Everton keep Cahill and any other star players, see how much you can get for the not as good players, keep Rodwell, Gosling and the other good youngsters. See if you can raise some money sign some wonderkids. On the tactics side, I always create my own but you can use some on this site which seem to work for people.

thanks, i would like to make my own tactics, wondering if you had any general tips on how to make a winning one because i don't like downloading tactics

Yeah TT&F helped me a lot (Tactical Theories and Frameworks), FM09 has been my first ever manager game on PC, I've played on PSP, but PSP is nothing compared to PC version, psp is way to easy, PC gives a great challenge, ever since I've used the TT&F I've got really quite good at the game and I can easily make good enough tactics to win games now :) Helps a lot

yeah id download a tactic and try and learn from what others have done and then build your own using what you found out from others, remb somtimes even the best tactics wont allways work with an team with loads of new players

Don't necessarily sign the highest quality available. Sign people that will fit in well with your squad and the tactics you use.

Always use your scouts before you sign someone.

Since you're a team like Everton, not much transfer funds to begin with - compared to other teams - you'll need to "sell to buy".

I would also concentrate on bolstering the midfield, especially left mid, with someone like Morten Gamst Pedersen or Martin Petrov.
