Anybody Been Birmingham ?

Has anybody been Birmingham on FM14 and had any "success" by which i mean made it to the playoffs or there about? how did you go about setting up your team and any signings you can suggest ?

im now in 2028 with my birmingham save and ive had quite a bit of success. i was able to gain promotion in my second season by taking advantage of set pieces more than anything. with someone like zigic in the box you have to get good corner free kick and long throw takers. in the championship i had success playing a straight 442 with zigic as a support target man. while the formation you play obviously is important i felt in the championship it was more about the same group of players working together. trying to keep the same core to the team will help in the long term

yeah i have just started with no money, but im torn because i feel my only chance of winning games is zigic but hes on 60k a week so hes taking up a bit of wedge in terms of wages.. but if i sell him who else could i get haha. who did you sign ? like first second season

Just keep Zig. I did as I had trouble shifting him believe it or not. He was comfortably top scorer and I gave him another year on his contract and he was top scorer in my first Prem season too.

your pretty much stuck with zigic whether you want him or not as no one is willing to take his wages. i decided to therefore just keep him happy and let him push the team forward. i was also taken over by a new chairman in the first season which helped. they didnt invest much money but having little is much better than having none. i was only able to sign players in january once i was taken over and i got gueye on loan and boyata. birmingham are a good challenge as if you are able to get them into the premier league you have everything to push them forward

Delighted ive just been taken over and they added 3 mil in the pot but you can adjust the budget up to 10/12 million who would you get le fondre or austin ?

I didn't get relieved of Carson until a couple of months before the end of my second season. Doing pretty steadily in the Prem now, fourth season. I even kept Zig on as a coach.

i would definitely look at austin over le fondre. it could depend on your wage budget as well though. i would look at signing youngsters who you will be able to give good game time to in the championship and as you get into the prem. i was able to sign gabriel barbosa in my second season for 3mil and then he eventually was sold for over 40mil a few years later
