I am 6 years into the future on my FM18 Scunthorpe United game, just got to the play-off final in the Championship to try and get promoted to the Premier League for the first time. However I have just been sacked as Scunthorpe manager on the same day as the play-off final due to breaking a board promise where I said I would play more young players in the first team. I believe I did say this when I asked for the youth facilities to be upgraded but I never believed I would get sacked for this?! Considering my job is 'Very Secure', I have full support of the dressing room and I have managed to get Scunthorpe into the Championship play-off final, I think it is ridiculous they would sack me over not playing young players!? Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't know, You did essentially lie to them and screwed them out of the cost of investing in youth facilities by then not using the youth players: a deal is a deal and you didn't hold up your end. Treat your board promises as the minimum you need to do to keep your job - break them and you'll be sacked.

Looks like a case of algorithms not taking all circumstances into consideration, which is to be expected. If it were real life, that manager wouldn't be sacked - at least not until he failed to qualify for promotion. But it's not real life, so stuff like this can happen.

YES!! FUMING!!!

The same happened to me this morning in my second season before my last league game... considering I was on an unbeaten campaign (over 100+ goals) with still the FA Cup Final and Champions League Final to play, it's the most brutal sacking! Especially after I bought three young players into the fold during the season... clearly not enough. Really poor View attachment 76699View attachment 76698View attachment 76697game play IMO though.

I changed my philosophies immediately after reading this :p
