I've come across a bug in my fm2009. It really annoys me because i love fm for its incredibly in depth player history and amazing detail. However during my 5th season (on every game) players history stats prior to the start date of the game disappears, or completely alters, for example it will change cristiano ronaldos history to 3 years at barnsely (prior to 2008/9 season) without scoring instead of being at man utd and sporting.
It completely ruins my enjoyment of the game, as it makes it unrealistic and inaccurate and makes me feel like the whole 5 seasons was a waste of time. I first had the issue before patch 3. And it ****** me off so much i decided to just not play fm anymore. I bought fifa manager 2009 and to be honest i really enjoyed the experience. I found the differences refreshing and the arcade style very similar to the old champ mans i love so much. (i still play cm2000/2001(H)). You know what i mean buy a random player from the blue square and he becomes world player of the year. And i really enjoyed the youth system were you get to bring your kids up from 10/11 years old. I found it creates attachments with players and you soon enough have your own set of fergie fledlings. But after a while it became repetative and old as the stats lack depth and it just doesnt have that something that makes FM games the current king of the crop....
However i still feel the FM series declines more each year as the bugs in each game never get fully resolved and the new features very rarely improve the game, even the 3d match engine was a disappointment with how buggy and unrealistic it can be, plus it takes away the imagination of your plays when it used to be a 3d engine in your mind....
Anyway ive gone off on a tangent, i updated the game to the latest version around mid august and started a new game. I had just reached the semi final of the champions league, my first set of young players starting to flourish, john fleck and keirrison dominating the league and europe when the same bug cropped up again... Bollocks i thought. doubt ill even bother playing the game anymore as 2010 is out soon enough (i dont dabble with demos, rather wait for the full thing and lock myself away for a weekend).
I have tried many things to solve this, save uncompressed, only use offical update data, no in game editing (occasionally i edit the odd player, not to make football gods but maybe tweak injury proneness of players, but thats rare mostly i have used the editor to change my date of birth to the correct year so i am my real age in game, or adding my home town, or making desailly a coach etc etc). I even started a test game, let it run on as me unemployed for 5 years on holiday, and then checked to see if it had the bug. At first it appeared not to have happened, so i saved and loaded and sure enough the player history of 97% of all players had either gone crazy or just disappeared.
Has anyone else come across this VERY VERY VERY frustrating glitch? What causes it? Is there a solution? Or a way to stop it from occuring? Has it been addressed in the new game? As i remember a similar thing happening in fm2007 and 08 only after more seasons, i remember it happening on my blackburn game on 2007 around 2020 and on my parma game on 2008 around 2015.
