Can't find many articles about this, but heard BBC and Talksport both discuss it briefly this morning.

The top 2 divisions of Argetinian football will be abolished from the 2012/13 season and will be replaced by a huge 38 team championship.

The new competition will see the teams split into two zones of 19. Traditional rivals like River Plate and Boca Juniors will be kept apart but would then face each other in 'inter-zone' matches. The top five teams in each zone will advance to the Championship Stage, to define the league winners, while the other 28 will play to avoid relegation.

A rather convinient way to solve the problem of River Plates relegation if you ask me. All they have to do to guarantee 'top flight' football next year is avoid a major disaster this season in the second tier.
