AS Roma: Rebuilding the Roman Empire

After seeing her side finish runners up to Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan, AS Roma president Rosella Sensi has shocked the Italian Media by relieving former fan’s favourite Claudio Ranieri of his duties at the Stadio Olimpico.

After being surrounded by press and paparazzi as she left the Stadio Olimpico, Rosella Sensi had this to say:

‘I can confirm that Claudio has left the club with immediate effect. We would like to thank Claudio for his service over the past season and wish him all the best for the future. However, this is AS Roma - La Maggica, success is in this clubs blood and to come second is falling short of what is expected from this great club’

Press: ‘Can you tell us who is next in line to replace Mr Ranieri?’

Rosella Sensi: ‘We have many paths we may go down and a few names in mind. Roma is a massive club and we will not rush into making a decision but we’re looking to freshen things up. That is all i have to say on the matter.

And on that note Rosella got into the back of her chauffer driven Masserati and sped off.

This left many of the paparazzi with more questions than answers, just who was going to be names as the next Roma manager? We'll just have to wait and see!

AS Roma: The rebuilding begins

After much deliberation it has been confirmed that Rosella Sensi has come to a decision regarding the vacant managers post at AS Roma.

Rosella Sensi: ‘We searched high and wide and looked at many options available to us interviewing many candidates for the position. However, one thing we noticed is that all of them lacked passion towards our club, and that is one thing that the supports need to see. The man in charge must understand the beliefs of this club and understand what it means to be a part of i Giallorossi. When you talk about this qualities there is only one man that fits the bill, and that man is... Francesco Totti’

The world was stunned as the Roma president announced that Roma legend and forward Francesco Totti would be taking over the helm at the club. How would this work? Was the great man hanging up his boots?

Press Conference: Francesco Totti to be unveiled as new Roma head coach

Press Officer: Rosella, first of all you must be delighted that Francesco has agreed to take on this role within the club?

Rosella: As everyone knows, Francesco is a great man. He has been our club captain and is a legend amongst the fans. There was only one man for the job in my eyes and I fills me with great pride that Francesco agreed to take over.

Press Officer: Francesco, if I may... At 32 years old many would argue that you still have a good few years of playing left in you, what made you decide to take on this great task?

Francesco Totti: Well as many of you know AS Roma, this club, it means everything to me. And when Rosella approached me about taking over it filled me with great pride that I had even been offered such a great opportunity. Of course it is no lie, I am 32 years old. Many people may think my best years of football are behind me but I say to them that this not true. I am still very fit and feel I have something to offer on the pitch still as well as off it.

Press Officer: So you have taken on a player/manager role?

Francesco Totti: Yes this is true. I believe it is for the best interests of the club that I remain a player also. If I am on the pitch, I can see things that others cannot and can make decisions from there. When I am not playing, I see everything. I have contacted many friends and former colleagues and will be making sure we have the best staff to move this club forward.

Press Officer: So Francesco if you are so happy to have taken on this job, why the forlorn look on your face?

Francesco Totti: Forlorn... I do not know this word [brief pause] aah why do I look sad? It is because I understand the financial situation of this club, it is not good. I may have to make decisions regarding the future of my players, my friends, this is something I do not look forward to.

Rosella: No more questions today thank you, me and Francesco have a lot to discuss.

[End of conference]

All comments and feedback welcome :D
