Currently managing Leicester, in 3rd season having been promoted second time round. In the summer I managed to sign only one big name in Drenthe, and found it difficult for any players bigger and better than my current squad to be interested in signing.

In fact, on player search, when I filter out unrealistic targets there are only players who are not a major improvement on my current squad, players who are good for the Championship and youngsters.

How do I attract the bigger names? Players outside of England rarely come up on my player search.

Any tips?

i can only say win a trophy m8 and then u will attract better players then get yourself into europe then the players will be firing in :)

Get a decent first season in the Premiership mate and you'll be able to sign a few better players. How much money you got to spend?

I got a massive 24m to start with but spend about 17 of that on a 3 young regens, 2 from South America and one from Holland. Hoping to see this season out and get a decent budget again next year I can spend.

Any quick tips on staying up in the Prem first season?

Apparently Leicster have a beast of a budget at the start of the 1st season. 7M for a Championship team! Money shouldn't be a problem...

Money certainly wasnt a problem but it's frustrating I can't spend it on who I want! Spent 17m on youngsters...hope they weren't mistakes but got frustrated at not being able to attract top players.

If you really want to attract bigger players (dependant on how big) if you just give them a 5k extra week normally works :-)

Can't even get players to talk to me though, and struggling to actually FIND good players.

This may sound odd but for Wrexham ive signed:
Magnus Eikrem
Oliver Norwood
Sean Mcguinty
Davide Petrucci
Joe Dudgeon
all from manchester United after they were released on Frees at the end of the first season.
Cheik Toure from Fulham after he was released on a free

I also bought Nathan Craig from Everton for 6k (wrexhams whole transfer budget) when he was listed at 60k

and have:
Robbie Brady
Corry Evans
Fransisco alacer all on season long loans from Man Utd
Suso from Liverpool on a season long loan

What i normally do is look to the big clubs at the end of the season and see who they release and get in there quick with a VERY generous contract!

I have a Wolfsburg game going. First season I couldn't even get a transfer-listed Park Ji Sung to join me. After a few successful seasons and yearly European action I have everyone in the game available to me. Just have to be patient and keep winning.

It also depends on Dynamic League Reputation, the higher rating of your League - the better players for you to sign

consolidate your prem status first
then aim for mid table
better players should come then so you can aim for europe and get the quality players
patience and consistency are key

Go on the top link on my sig, it sorts all the players roles by attributes needed for each position and role, so say if you need a target man support, it would find you one with min attributes of say 10? it could be a good way of getting good unknown player in your team :)

hope this helps

One good trick I found is to make a shortlist of players whose contracts are running out next season (or who are within a realistic prize-range) and then try to loan them.

If they play well for you they might end up liking you and the club, making it a lot easier to sign them once their contract runs out.

Another thing to consider is going after players that are currently injured, as they are a lot less picky about where they sign.
And if you have cash to spend, browse through the football academies (Clairefontaine seems to produce quality regens season after season) - although you have to pay the compensation ee since there is no way to "transfer" them.
