Introduction

Hi everyone,
I recently made a story with Chelsea, to test the tactic i made based on "Dunga's Brazillian style" of football. Although at the end of my first season recognised my idiotic failure of using the wrong database, as the main aims of the campaign were to test the tactic, whilst developing Youth players to dominate European football i have restarted as the restrictions of the database prevented me targeting my desired players.

I will now take over Manchest City creating my own team, to suit the tactic I will be using. Whilst focusing on developing Youth which will become the main players over the first 5 seasons.

The Tactic

instructions.jpg

Has Three main Phases

Light Blue -Defensive Phase - The full backs need to make the 6th man in the attack every time, or this tactic wouldnt work, for this to work the full backs/wingbacks will have to get forward at every possibly opportunity to provide width, yet make sure that wide teams such as Barcelona in the ECL and Liverpool in the premiership don't flood me on the wings.
Secondly the center backs need to sit back and win the headers, standing up there men, the ball playing defender will aim to link the midfield by playing the ball into them, whilst the limited defender will aim to cover using his experience and great anticipation to make sure the long ball doesn't beat this defence on the counter attack.
Finally the anchor man should aim to break up the attacks win headers and get in the heavy tackles, whilst defensive midfielder gets wide and breaks down wing attacks, supporting the fullback.

Red Phase - Midfield - Where the battle will be won, the fluent attacking football needs to happen here when the possession will be retained until attacking opportunities open. Defensive midfielder will link the Defensive Midfielders to the attacking phase, looking to play in Ballack/ Hamsik to create the opportunities, or the attacking midfielder to spear head the attacks and score goals.

Dark Blue Phase - Attack- Here the Complete forward/Target man will look to get hold of the ball and power into the box or bring the ball down and get shots away, attacking midfielder will look to make the 3rd striker and get long range shots off, whilst the advanced playmaker looks to get into the box later or pick through balls into the three. Finally the poacher will pick up the scraps or make pacey breaks at the back line.

Analysis, this tactic should keep possession, score goals with the attacking full backs and 4 attacking players whilst the 4/5 defensive players maintain a solid wall. I hope that i will not just win games, but win them with fluent passing football.

Finally i would like to give credit to the person who made the Brazilian, box to box post. That post inspired me to finally do this, as i have been wanting to make a possession tactic for some time, Brazil provided the formation in the world cup, and the guys post on " Rare box to box midfielder" made me want to take up the challenge :)

The Team Analysis

Goalkeepers

Given - Reliable, experienced and unflappable. Although he is getting on for the first season given will be a good choice.

Taylor - Needs replacing, he generally lacks in all areas to suit the Defensive goalkeeper role needed for this tactic to work as it is vulnerable to fast counter attacks.

Defenders

RB - Richards - A definate star of the future although lacks creative quality for the offensive modern day attacking full back, will be blooded into the game and nurtured for the future. :)

LB - Bridge - Good full back, has the stamina and workrate to be constantly bombing forward, reliable performer.

CB - Toure / Lescott - a good combination, Toure has the ability to make a good covering cb, lescott fantastic in the air where toure lacks, will try him in the ball playing defender role and see if their is need for investment.

Midfielders

Anchor Man - De Jong - The Krate kid himself, strong good tackler which should suit the role well, he is young so will fit into the team for the future also and develop into a influential core member hopefully. Has great physical stats and good defensive will be the perfect protection for my defenders

Defensive Midfielder - Barry - He will be another link in the spine of the team, his job will be to support the wing backs and break down attacks, whilst holding play and linking together the defence to the creative attacking players.

Advanced Playmaker - Ireland - good young player, although i don't want to pin my hopes of creating my goals and providing goals on someone not so gifted, therefore this is a definite area for investment.
:)

Trequartista - None as of yet, another place for investment :)

Strikers

Complete forward / Target Man - Carlos Tevez - Magnificent goal scorer, tireless striker with a eye for goal! wouldnt let him go for anything! will score and provide in quantity i hope. :D

Poacher - Adebayor - Quick , strong and got the ability with his head, i am hoping that he will fill this role, if not i will go in search of a replacement
.

My Targets

Jack Rodwell - Will be my No.1 target to sign, hopefully will develop into Englands future top player, will be blooded into easier games as Ball playing CB or DM,

Lukaku - Drogba but 16, i will use him as a sub and give him some experiance in the league cup, hoping to develop him into the next top striker!

Verratti - This boy will be the future heart of the Citizens, i am hoping to develop him into the next Kaka, has great potential with the right guidance, good training and correct experience he will be the man to have!

Darijo Sarna - Will hopefully be the key full back in supplying the support needed to add width to my tactic, tireless full back, with great pace and offensive ability.

Gareth Bale - Fantastic Full back i hope will become the next Roberto Carlos, will try to sign him and nurture him into the replacement for Bridge. He has great offensive potential as well as decent physical ability.

Hamsik - will hopefully be my immediate replacement for Ireland, his great technical ability along with creative potential will make him into a great playmaker.

Aguero/rossie - Two young players i will be after for the Trequarista role, to add the darting runs into the box whilst giving a threat from range!

Nice start :) Rodwell is a GREAT target. Since you're Man City, you'll probably have to pay a stupid amount, but Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck from Man Utd also turn out great in the future. Both are forwards, so you could have a look at them.

Season one! Let the Games Begin

First of all thank you everyone for the comments! :)
This post will now explain how my pre season has gone!

The Results

preseason.jpg

As you can see got off to a slow start, although players are still settling into the new Citizens style, therefore it does not concern me too much! :) Although two Major flops for me are Gareth Barry and Adebayor, Adebayors lazy work ethic causes him problems in this tactic which is explainable. Although i am shocked by Gareth Barry Failing to step up to the mark, i was hoping for him to be the catalyst to this formation. :)

Transfers !

transfers.jpg

The Transfer history shows the players i finally managed to attract, one big dissapointment is that Deportivo would not part with felipe, TSpurs wouldnt accept for bale and Chelsea wanted 70 mil for Cole, therefore i am very vulnerable down the left side if bridge is injured :S

I will now begin my scouting to find players which will potentially become the next big thing :) Then aim to bring a couple in around the winter transfer window! :) Adebayor and Barry maybe on their way out also if they do not book their ideas up!

Get Renan for RB mate, been good for me every time (Srna is 27) or Azpilicueta

And Dodo for LB if you didnt get Cole

(I know these are well known, but they will do the job)

Mid season Review

Whats, What?

This Season has been like making a massive snowball, at first it was very slow, i believe the bedding period of the new players was having a massive affect, they were adjusting to the citizens new era, which i hope will become dominant in Europe over the next three seasons. Although As we get rolling momentum is gathering and it looks like this team is on a run!

The aim for this season were to:
  • Purchase the Youth players i will aim to develop
  • Purchase players which will form the core to the new era Citizen style of football, which will also provide experiance as my youth develop
  • Mount a title challenge!

The Premiership!

Aim: Title Challenge

Late pre season long term injuries halted the progress of Rodwell, Lukaku and Veratti which disappointed me. Players which had not preformed in pre season were under immense pressure, as Adebayor fell more and more out of favour at the Eastlands, Carlos Teves failing to turn up and Gareth Barry been surprisingly dismal there was not much ambition for a first season title, although...When a lad is under pressure, a man must step up....

premiership.jpg

The season began well, with Wonderkid Aguero finishing important goals against everton, Carlos Teves Changed roles as Santa Cruz returned from injury to fill the target man role and become a man he did, Teves destroyed the United Defence along with Hamsik,! Citizens 1, Ferggies Fools 0! bet the boots were flying in the changing rooms after!
Although Gareth Barry was flamed in the Press by myself, since then he has commanded the midfield in the anchor man role, knitting together the midfield and getting the ball into Hamsik and Aguero! looks like the Citizens Captin will remain at the Eastlands! :D
Finally my biggest disappointment was Adebayor for some weird reason he suffered a lot of -1 drops in stats, :S whilst everyone else progressed on the training, the coaches are the best in game, whilst none of the coaches notice any problems in reports, although he now appears to have settled in as Santa Cruz pressures for his spot! He is scoring, holding up the ball and playing in Tevez magnificently, Although question Remains, as Dzeko looks ever more appealing, do i sell him and buy Dzeko with he funds?

The Table

table-1.jpg

The Reasons i am at the top!

rodwell-1.jpg

Yes, this was one of the youngsters i aimed to develop, although he has made the mark early! Early season my defense was strugling with structure as the ball playing defender, Lescott, was just not up to the job, misplacing passes and causing great pressure, Rodwell returned from injury and as you can see has steaked his claim as the main CB, his Pass Completion Rate shows how he is linking the defense to the rest of the team, whilst his tackle rate and average rating show he still manages to win everything! i think this man will be the future of the Citizens!

hamsik-1.jpg

This man is proving to fill in the creative catalyst role for the attacking players, he had a slow start but he is now settling, magnificent assist rate, adding the odd one himself as well, his movement and vision is equal to the likes of Messi himself! Has the Most assists in the premiership, as well as the highest average rating and most MoM awards!

tevez.jpg

Premiership Top scorer by 6 goals, working hard, linking well! He had a slow start but i flamed him in the media told him to prove himself or he was out! Tevez Made me eat my words! fine role model for Aguero!

Analysis

Fantastic start to the season, was slow getting there but the lads are settling in, the tactic has prove itself with another team!

My younger lads are back from injuries, Lukaku is been bloodied into the game in the Cups and easier league teams, he is holding his own! :D[ Veratti, This lad is coming along fantastically, introducing him as a sub sometimes and using him for cup matches! Rodwell, already has secured a first team spot, cant wait to see how he develops!

Targets

Youngsters

Dodo / Bale - My relentless pursuit of Bale in the media will hopefully cause Tottenham to crack although Dodo is a long term prospect on his way to Eastlands!

Canales - going to try and persuade him from madrid, my scouts love him!

Toni Kroos - the next Kaka!

Danny Wilson - For my big challenging Cb!

Mchelidze - Amazing 19 yo striker from empoli!

Sissoko - DM very rare young ones!

Camacho/ Asamoah/ Busquets - Barry Replacement!

Thank you everyone :) if anyone has any youngsters they would like me to try and develop in this campaign please suggest and i will give it a go :)

Season one over!

The Team

Thesquad.jpg

This is my current first team squad, as you can see a very nice pass completion rate, showing that my tactic of quick slick attacking passing football is working with the players, even though they have just arrived at the Eastlands!

Review of a few Key players in Key roles!

Defensive Players

De Jong-DMC - The stats show that he is the engiene of the defense, he covered the most ground, has the highest tackles per game! Secured him spot in this possition, therefore a good season for him!

Jack Rodwell - Stopper Ball Playing CB -From the stats he has a great tackle count and header count, showing he is getting in and breaking up the attacks well! Also a great pass completion rate showing he is linking the ball to the midfield well another good season!

Need for change?

Need to buy a young right back, a new leftback, and one centeral defender who can let rodwell move into the midfield.

Midfielders

Barry - Anchor man - Protecting the defence well, magnificent pass competition and tackle rate showing he is breaking up the attacks and moving the ball into the attackers effectivly!
He has had a magnificent season, to think i was questioning weather to sell him!

Marek Hamsik - Advanced Playmaker - English Player of the year, Manchester City Player of the year, highest rated player in the Premier League, most assists and 12 goals... 20 million very well spent, adopted into the playmaker role very well, spear heads my attacks. His achievements this season speak for him without me!

Need for change?

I have veratti progressing nicely, although i do need another young attacking midfielder to allow Aguero to be a striker, eventually taking over tevez. Toni Kroos is my main target, and Pjanic to train up. Hamsik will be there for many seasons!

Strikers

Carlos Tevez - Poacher - 31 games 22 goals, 6 assists. World Striker of the year! he only played half a season! if only he had not been injured!

Need for change?

I need someone for along side tevez, someone to get a hold of the ball, Santa Cruz is too inconsistent, Adebayor is not good enough for me, will get rid of those and bring in Dzeko, whilst Yaya and Lukaku progress over the next season before they make regular appearances off the bench!

The Premier League- Final Table and Second half of season Results

premiership-1.jpg

I did not only win the league, i dominated the league! :) I used no corner bug or anything and still scored the most goals in the league! i conceded the least even though Shay Given was about as reliable as a 3 legged donkey, Well done to my lads! :)

The Fixtures

fixtures.jpg

As you can see the second half of the season did not give as many goals, Tevez was out for 5 month did not play a single game apart from the last, Tevez was still the second top scorer in the Premier League, says it all....Lots of injuries to my strikers left me using reserves at some points! :)

Other Competitions, League Cup and FA.

Please note my first team was NOT used in these fixtures, it was a mixture of subs, to keep them happy and my young superstars to be! Don t waste my time with these competitions, they give little prize money, tier your players if you don't have the depth, which at the moment i don't and give injuries. Although,...although,...They are good for providing your youth with starting opportunities to gain experience and improve! :)

FA Cup

A Closer Look at the YoungSTARs![/B]

Jack Rodwell

rodwell-2.jpg

This season he has stepped up to the mark, setting the standard for my younger players!
Training reports confirm his development, i have focused on his defensive abilities this season as physically he is naturally talented. Next season i will focus on trying to improve the technical aspects of him :)

Marco Verratti

verrati-1.jpg

The man to be! Training Reports confirm that he has DRAMATICALLY improved over this year, i have focused on his creative potential this season, next season i will develop him technically. Same again for him with appearances in the Domestic cups along with sub appearances! very happy with this guy!

Yaya Sanogo

Sanogo.jpg
#

A winter signing, got him out of contract, my scouts love him, my fan do and so do i now!
first game he appeared in he scored the winner against Man U, Secondly the Winner at Stamford Bridge! Great potential in this guy to be a strong pocher type, will be interesting to see what i can bring out of him!

The analysis, was it sucessfull?

This season was about building a team that would suit my tactic, gathering good youth players and developing thier potential and mounting a title challenge.

I have not got a core of youth players due to arrive at the Eastlands very soon or who have already had one season playing for the citizens. Rodwell has already become a regular face in the team, Veratti has produced some great preformances, Lukaku and Yaya are developing into great strikers. Dodo is on his way to the Eastlands, along with Danny Wilson, the search for a young defensive midfielder and a right back continues! All in all i feel i have achieved my first aim of the season

Secondly i have gathered a team with the defensive structure and discipline Jose himself would admire, with a midfield which is tierless, packed with creativity and knows where the back of the net is! I feel i have managed to settle a team together that suits this tactic and will do me proud in Europe! Target achieved!

Fianlly I have managed to win the Premiership! not only win it but dominate it! Therefore target Achieved!

Summary of season one! Sucessful!

Please leave your opinion, any youth players you would like me to try and use or how you would like me to update! leave your vote on the team i should play through the WC also :D

very good tactic by the looks of things. great start :)

Sing sing africa

Summer has arrived, many rumours were circulating in the public about a few national teams wanting Citizens new "Special One" taking the helm for the world cup!
Milner has proven himself in the English top flight, although the international stage is the top level, without him having the ability to train and nurture teams to play to his style, can he adopt to what he is given ? Then bring the best out of a restricted amount of players!

So, the world cup is here and you guys have chosen who you would like me to try and win the world cup with, Germany recieved the most votes, although they have a easy group, a easy route to the final and fantastic players.

Ivory Coast was the second favourite, they also have a difficult group with Holland and Serbia both in. Also the second round has prospects of Brazil, with the chance of a Spanish quarter final! Therefore i have come to my decision...

worldcup.jpg

African nation has never even got to the semi finals, my aim is to do that :)

The Ivory Coast FA have challenged me to reach the second round of the competition,..

a World Cup review and Squad Analysis will follow shortly, after i have prepared my lads for the competition :)
[/CENTER]

---------- Post added at 11:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 AM ----------

OK this is my review of the Ivory Coast and how i will use them :)

The Squad

Ivory Coast is a very technically, physically and disciplined, the team lacks, creativity and the ability to play the ball around due to a low first touch, low passing, and poor positioning and off ball movement.although lots of attacking flair, who are very skilful!

Key Players

Kolo Toure- CB, Cover - This man is the heart of the defenders, one of my main defenders at Eastlands, pacey, strong and can leap like a salmon! he will look to cover the balls over the top as due to the good pace.

Yaya Toure - Anchor Man - i believe the player in this position makes your team terrible, if they give the ball away causing tremendous pressure on the defence, or if they can win the tackles an get rid of it, although magnificent if they can win the ball and complete 75% of their passes to players who can create something, also the player must get forward and act as the offloading player for attacking situations, Yaya Toure is one of my favourite players in the world for this position, he is key to my success!

Kalou - Attacking Winger - very fast, young, technically gifted player, he is going to be my main supply to Drogba, hopefully hitting the net when he has the chance for himself as well!

Droba - Complete forward, Attack - The man, the legend, Africa's talisman - strong, fast, skill full, from range or poaching efforts not alone the Ariel threat he poses! if he scores, my lads will win!

The Tactic!

This is not the tactic produced by mashedpotato, although is based around the side ideas, difference are no offsides, different player roles, tinkering with player instructions for example cross aims, wide tactics, wingers changed to inside forwards and many more differences :)

ivorycoast1.jpg

Essentially this will act as a 4-3-3 my wide players will be used as inside forwards to make up the support Droba, Yaya Toure will look to boss the midfield, and protect my defence, then hit other teams on a counter getting the ball into drogba as much as possible.

ivorycoast2.jpg

I will use short passing to ensure possession is not wasted, as the team have a very poor first touch and i doubt the effectiveness of a Stoke style one ball to the forwards tactics. the ball will be played down the wings to my flair filled, pace packed wide players which will bomb down the wings to support Drogba.

the IC poor positional sense means i will use a rigid shape, to keep teams chances of passing through my team to a minimum, whilst using a controlled approach to keep the attacking players on the ball as much as possible, as they are the talent of this team! also ensuring Drogba stays forward so on counter attacks he will spear head the attack!

The Group!

group.jpg

So, i think Holland will win all three games, against them i will play for the draw and hope Drogba can pick something up! Serbia and Me will be aiming for the second spot, i feel we are very similar teams, Saudi i have no concerns about they will loose the group :) Although top spot would be nice to avoid Brazil in the next round! :P
