I'm in my 5th season as Austria Wien manager and have won the league every year but always failed in Europe, consistently being knocked out at the group stages.

I've built up a team mainly of regens and youngsters, some of which have amazing attributes - couple of France and Italy internationals aged only 20 which are always subject to bids from teams like Man City and Arsenal. I win most league and domestic cup games by at least 3 goals.

My usual tactic is Brobs17 4-1-2-3 12.1 (Liverpool, Dec 2013)

This season I finished runner up in my group and I played Man Utd at home in the first leg of the knockout round and scraped a 2-1 win (they had a player sent off and missed a penalty). I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get slaughtered in the return leg (Arsenal and Rangers both beat me 5-0 in the group stage).

I need a good defensive tactic to help me get a draw or even a lucky victory.

Tricky, especially since there is no time for the team to learn the new tactic in the match prep before the big game. My best suggestion would be to either keep the same shape an play much more cautious by reducing t-balls and runs from deep. This way, you Will Be fluid with the tactic. You could also use the same settings but play à more defensive formation .

Changing the tactic totally Will be à hit and miss( most likely à miss)

Good advice. Thanks. I think I'm gonna have a job on my hands containing their Gareth Bale and whoever they play on the other wing.

Switched Mentality to Normal and as soon as I equalised after going a goal down I switched it to Ultra-Defensive and Time Wasting Often.

Won 2-1!

It gets better - went on to beat Man City 3-0 in Manchester (5-4 on aggregate) and then beat Real Madrid 3-2 at home. Dreading the return leg though.
