Well the pacific started last night and it looks like it's going to be good. This led me to start watching Band of Brothers again. Has anyone seen it? I think it's quality.

Band of Brothers is great, got it on DVD and have been meaning to rewatch it for ages because the first time round I missed bits and don't think I got the whole series in :D

Watched 1-3 of the Pacific and thought 1 was ok, episode 2 was brilliant and ep 3 was on/off
but ***** = win.

Looks like it will be a decent mini-series.

Pacific looks really good. Unfortunately, I don't have Sky :'(

Band of Brother is amazing.

The Pacific has been ok so far, but it has alot to live up to if it is going to have a similar effect as Band of Brothers, Will have to see what the rest of them are like.

I have seen the first four episodes
Its decent enough, although i'm not adhering to it as much as Band Of Brothers

Band of Brothers was the best series since The Sopranos[Which still owns all]

I love Band of Brothers, it had me gripped from beginning to end which is why i'm watching it again.
I only saw the last 50 or so minutes of the second part of the pacific last night :'( but from what i saw it looks as though it'll be decent.

My only concern is that if it's not as good as BoB then it'll be deemed as an epic fail (N)

Band of Brothers was quality I hope The Pacific lives up to the same standard been looking forward to it for ages.

Just adding a little disclaimer to the title.

Keep the discussion up to the episodes that are being shown in the UK, as I know the US is 2-3 eps ahead, dont want it being spoiled for people :)

Band of Brothers is the mutts nuts. Will get the Pacific when it comes out on DVD

Thnks Gregor theres nothing worse than someone giving away the ending.

ahhh cheers gregor (Y) just noticed that you've changed the title

I watched the repeat of the pacific last night and it looks quite good. Gunna have to figure out the main characters names i think to make it easier to watch.

Didnt wanna step on your toes, just I dont wanna be spoiled :P

BOB is amazing, Pacific has alot to live up to, I think it will be good, but will be in BOB's shadow

bump:

so The Pacific is well and truly finished [on telly that is]
and i have to say, i wasn't really that impressed, i watched the first 5-6 episodes and then lost all interest in it,

i felt it kept switching companies and regiments and stuff far too often, thus meaning you couldn't form a "bond" with the characters like you could with Band of Brothers and Easy Company, so, IMO this show was a bit of an epic fail....

anyone else's thoughts/opinions?

Seen Band of Brothers, streaming The Pacific now..

Bump:

Just finished watching The Pacific, agree with *Jones* in that it gets a little confusing switching between different stories and companies etc. but i thought that this one had a different desired effect, or at least i felt differently about it. At the end of Band of Brothers, everyone is celebrating and the men are very brave and throughout the series we (or at least I) become attached to Major Winters (the ginger guy...) as he progresses up the ranks from NCO to Major. Unfortunately, the war in the pacific was a horrible war, men did things, and saw things that they couldn't speak about for long afterwards.
I actually grew to dislike the character of Eugene Sledge, he becomes a changed man, and is clearly psychologically damaged by the whole experience. Doing things like stealing gold teeth.. On the other hand, i found myself pretty sad when John Basilone was KIA (was he shot by his own side's machine gun?) And worried for the safety of Bob Leckie

All in all though, i preferred the B.O.B series to this one - but this one certainly had more of an emotional effect on me, especially with the summaries at the end of the last episode about all their lives after the war.
