hey, basically, I've decided to play FM14, my first FM, and i'm completely new and literally have no clue what i'm doing. I've tried looking at some videos, but I cant find decent ones explaining what on Earth to do. I don't want to ruin a club, so help would be appreciated!

I don't even know how to sign a player, and for a lower league team, how I'd go about searching for a good player for my club. Also, I have no idea how to determine weather or not a player is better than the one I currently have, and how i can quickly and easily compare two players.

I know these are real basic things, and tbh, I might not need to know alot with my first time playing, but I want to build a good club off the bat, not mess around, wasting seasons not having any idea with what i'm doing.

To be honest, I think you'd of been better off getting FM13 if you've never played FM before, the new one is alot harder

FM is a steep learning curve. Take a club you know well, and is preferrably really good. You'll probably get fired, but you'll learn the very basics at least, probably more.

get scouts with good Judging Current Ability and Judging Potential Ability. Then when you scout a player they will tell you how good that player is compared to yours.

You can also ask your scouts to offer their advice on some transfer targets I believe.

Start off with a HUGE team, like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man United, Chelsea, Man City, then you know you will have world class players available from the start. Other than that just dive in, you'll lose, maybe even get fired but you will eventually get the hang of it.

how do i determine who is a better player? what stats do i know affect what position etc?

Erm, check the player. There are positions for each player, selecting it will highlight the main stats required for that position. The values are in the range of 1-20, with 20 being the highest.

Also, your scout report will tell you if the player can be good for your team. As stated above, just start playing, you'll get the hang of it.
