Ok, so this my first attempt to write a story, it'll probably result in me rage-deleting the save, but here goes!
So, how did I get here?
Last thing I knew I was working in my dead-end 9-5 job and now here I am listening to the chairman of Basingstoke FC lay out my new role.
“Do you want me to send you a history of the club?” He asks.
“If you think it will be of benefit,” I curtly reply.
I had been appointed manager of Basingstoke FC in the National League South.
The truth is that I have lived just up the road from the club for a huge majority of my life, but it was on one Saturday afternoon in May at The Camrose that changed my life.
I was watching Basingstoke v Whitehawk in the play-off semi-final first leg when I mentioned my thoughts on their style of play to a fellow fan.
Turns out that ‘fan’ was a committee member at the club – next thing I know; I’m being invited to interview for the manager’s job!
Now I’m off to meet the staff….
