Hi all, don't know if this has been done yet, but it's just an idea that I'd like to sound out. There are so many well known tactics to download on FM Base, I think it would be cool if we could find out the ultimate one.

How I hear you say? Well simple really, I just need a few volunteers. We vote on the team that we all have to be, and go a whole season using just one tactic mentioned on this website.

To make it a completely fair test, you wouldn't be allowed to sign any new players. I also suggest that the team we all have to be isn't one of the best ones... Good players could offset the general strengths and weaknesses of a tactic.

The best tactic will primarily be judged on who gets the most points on their own save, if the points are tied, winner will be decided by goal difference, if goal difference is the same, goals scored will count, if somehow even that is the same, most wins will be taken into account.

What does everyone think? Anyone interested in this? Just something I'm curious about, if it takes off, I'll edit this thread to make it a bit more official.

Suggestions for the team are welcome also.

don't know if I've got time to run ALL the tactics myself, but will give one or two a go, this is why I'll need volunteers.
Here is an opportunity for everyone to test their own tactics, and prove who is the best.

Whose turned out to be the best last year then Raikan, out of curiosity?

so it all matters on who the better manager is....

Hardly mate, the only places that managerial ability will come in is when to use a sub. I daresay 90% of the time, everyone will chose the same first eleven if we all had to use the same team and stick to your chosen tactic all the way through the season no matter what.

Also maybe keep the same *** man, and use his team talks? Of course injuries could come into it as well.

Seems fair enough. Can't do a thing about injuries though, luck of the draw, and everyone assumes the same risk.... Injuries can arguably be caused by certain tactics though can they not?

are you going to test the tactics? does anyone want to do it? would be awesome!

would love to do this yes, but it's going to be impossible for me to test all of them on my own, Liammur said he's in, realistically we're going to need a few more volunteers though.

I've got an idea for the squad, rather than choosing an existing team, we can make a dream team with at least two players covering every possible position (inside forwards, classic wingers, fullbacks, wingbacks, sweepers... everything). That way every possible position is covered for the tactic.

If this is a dumb idea then apologies but I did a mini test myself using blackburn running just the premier league on a small database and going on holiday ticking the use current tactics box. I think I tested around 6 tactics and it only took me around an hour and half to test all of them. Perhaps edit so the assistant manager is mourinho or something?
