I'm running a 4-2-3-1 formation, with two cms, one AMC and two AM wingers and a lone striker.

I was just wondering what y'alls opinions were on what attributes a good lone striker in my formation would need. We usually play a short passing medium tempo game. Goals come off crosses, wingers cutting inside and passing, or straight through the middle (pretty much every way).

Some suggestions I have heard before are that he needs to be strong with good headers, and he doesn't need to be fast. What about some mental or technical attributes?

Key attributes can be found in there.

Depends what kind of lone striker you want. Do you want a headless chicken who will work their socks off chasing down lost causes in the hope of pressurising the defenders into mistakes? EG Olic, Tevez, Bellamy

Or do you want a deep lying ball player who has good movement, vision, first touch, passing eg Rooney

Do you want a targetman, with good heading, strength, vision, first touch eg Zamora, Carew, Heskey, Crouch

Well the wingers I have don't get many assists of crosses, so I'm questioning the need for good heading stats. My strikers hardly outscore my AMs, which is something I wanted with this formation though.

my AMs usually do the pressuring on defenders, so I figure somewhere between deep lying and targetman I suppose.

I was pretty much wondering what kind of mental stats would be appropriate.

I play with the same formation, although I play a counter-attacking style.

I rely on fast wingers and a fast striker.

I play my striker as a poacher because with 2 CMs, 2 wingers and AM i dont really want the striker to do anything except score goals.

I use strikers with good pace and acceleration as well as good composure and finishing.

A great lone striker for me has been Welliton, brazilian plays in russia. Scores over 30 goals most seasons in the premier league for me in all of my saves.

my lone striker plays deep and acts as a dummy, feeding balls to high wingers and supporting midfield runs. he rarely scores but he leads serie A in assists. my midfield players and wingers have more goals than my "lone striker"
