However Pique isn't very far behind him and Puyol and he's much younger, so no doubt it will end up being Pique soon enough. Probably a future Spain captain aswell..

i think its hard to argue because it isnt about the defender, but the partnership of the two. at a pinch i'd say lucio but its a tough call

After a light debate on another thread i am keen to know who people regard as the best centre back in the world. I think Gerard Pique i just love watching him play he has everything plus Man Utd missed a trick which makes me happy.

Although i think fergie made a big mistake with pique whenever he played for man utd he was pretty **** and a bit immobile and my choice for best in the world has to be vidic, he's such a beast no one want to mess with him

yes, he ripped players shirts, held them down when competing for headers etc, he isnt a good defender he just fouls players. he gets the job done though but i just dont like the way he does it so i dont rate him

Lucio is a rubbish defender all he does is foul the player he is marking. When he is against anyone fast he just cant keep up Kevin Doyle rapped him when Ireland played Brazil

Lucio was better than Puyol in the WC, but only just. I prefer Puyol, but he's slower than he was. Voted Lucio due to his current form. Loved him bombing down the middle <3
