Hi everyone I've been a member for a while and an avid reader of the forum but rarely get involved posting.

A background into my question

i started as a 27 yr old manager with Sunday league reputation and I started as Rayo Vallecano manager.
i had the idea of maybe trying to keep the club up for a couple of years and maybe try to move around Europe leading me to bigger clubs maybe.
I somehow managed to finish 5th in my first season using a range of tactics but mainly a counter attacking tactic I found on the tactics forum which was very efficient in scoring the odd goal and keeping clean sheets which was definitely the key to my good season.

i decided to change the style going into the second season and went with a different tactic again which I found on the tactics forum and had a fantastic season finishing 3rd behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.
i had bought a few good young players such as Gabriel Barbosa, angel correa, and Ever Balanta due to having sold most of the team and finishing in Europe. I also won the Europa league winning every game I played except one leg against arsenal which was a draw but my tactic was unbeatable in Europe.

the 3rd season was another very good season and I finished 2nd 4 points behind Barcelona but I could have really won the league but for a couple of late goals in games against Barcelona and Real Madrid resulting in draws in the last 5 games.

im now into my 4th summer of this game and my contract is up in a month with the club on a weekly basis trying to get me to sign a new contract, but I am now attracting offers from Monaco, Roma, Milan, Spurs, Arsenal, as well as interviews at other clubs. The idea going into the game was to hopefully get to this position but after 3 very good seasons at a smaller club it's hard to walk away but the players I mentioned earlier as well as a few others are wanting to move to bigger clubs or at least want much higher wages than I can offer at Rayo which would mean ripping my team apart and starting again as I would have a whole team of unhappy players.

my question is when does everyone think the best time to move on is or would you stay where you were and try to go one better but with the likeliness of having to sell your better players and try to do it all again

thanks

I play this game for almost 10 years and i never moved. I usually set myself an objective with a certain club, and go for it. When i'm done, i may play a bit more just for fun, but most of the times, i wrap it up, start a new save, or wait for the next game.
Won't the board offer you more money so you can keep the players? If i were to lose all my stars, i would probably be ****** to. You said you want to move around Europe, well now is your chance, if the board won't give you a hand.

No the board won't give me any more money to keep the players I already have, I would be looking at big prices for my players probably in excess of 100 million if most of them left as they wished but I don't think id be in a position to replace the quality I'd have lost.

yes it was the idea to move around Europe so I guess that's what I probably should do it just suddenly feels wrong if that's the right way of putting it to leave the club

You've achieved your aim with rayo, think to yourself, can you take them higher? Win League? UCL? if you feel you can stay & tell your players wanting to leave you expect to win these competitions. But if you want to move to a bigger club & attract bigger talent then move.

For me personally, I would stay. I'd like to take them as high as I could get then look at my options

Currently the squad should only get better as all my best players are young and should improve with the experiences of the last 2 years and if I could convince the players to stay I would definitely want to stay and win the big trophies but the problem is my stadium is 14000 seater with the board not wanting to add, the facilities training and youth are poor and the club doesn't feel a club with our reputation needs better so I can't see how my players would want to stay in these conditions when all the best teams in Europe are interested

You might think of it as cheating, but save the game, sign the contract extension, and see how it turns out. If you lose your players, load & leave. Never did it, since i don't move clubs, but i would probably do it in your case.

Yes I think that's the problem I've got where I'm trying to do it as real as possible whereby if I sign the contract and stay and find all my players demand to leave then it's tough as it would be in real life, but I also know that moving to another club would make me want to sign some of the players I have at rayo but unlikely to be able to afford them.

i think I may be best to stay promise the players the world and take my chances or at least sell for ridiculous amounts and try to start again although find it hard to think it would be possible as the squad is very suited to the tactics I play

One small suggestion: after you start selling, reinvest your transfer money into wage budget, so you might have a chance to keep some of your players. If it doesn't work out, put it back.
