I reckon I'm really cautious when it comes to a club's finances when I'm managing them and sometimes I missed out on some key players because they were asking for bigger wages than the average in my team. For example, some of the players in my save are asking for better contracts (they're currently in their last year and they're on 750k per year. They ask for 1.5m per year, something that I reluctantly give) and I risk of losing them for free if I do not come with a solution. My question is, do you guys mind about the player's wages if you can get a gem in your club? Let's say one of the players you've scouted for a long time gets transfer listed or gets released by his club. He is willing to join your club but only if you pay him big amount of cash. What do you do?

If I felt I needed him then I'd get him no matter what.

I set a wage structure in my club and try not to break it. Say I have $1m total to spend on wages, I designate 300k to key players (normally around 3-4 players), 300k to First team, and 300k to rotation/backup. Also there is 100k for youth/reserves.

Now for you question based on the info above, If I have 3 key players, lets say they are all on 100k so no one gets mad over a player of similar quality having more wage then them therefore making them unhappy and ask for a higher wage. If I do however, feel that one of these players is a gem, and don't want to lose them, but he is asking for 150k, I would sell a key player and purchase another one that is on less wages. In the end I would still have 300k spent on three players, but it is divided like this - 150k on the gem, 100k on a key player and 50k on a third to balance out the banks.

Now, If you are buying a player that you've wanted for a long time, but he breaks the banks, I normally say its not worth it, and search for similar players, because with enough searching/scouting, you will find a similar player, but cheaper and demanding less wages.

FreakDJ sounds spot on. I just wish I was as good with my wages ahaha. ;)

Yeah it sounds like I need to restructurate my wages haha.

I just used that structure as an example based on my club, for my club its much larger as my board has given me a lot more to spend on wages, so i just scaled it down to a 1m wage budget for a smaller club(we are a rich club, 950m in the bank currently after the jan transfer window in 2033).
I still use the same idea with my transfer budget however, 30% goes to 3-4 Key players, 30% to ~8 First team members, then 30% to ~13 rotation/backup players, and the final 10% to youth/reserves.

Formula *Wage/Player= ([WageBudget]*[.3 for percent])/[NumberOfPlayers]
Example = [1,000,000 WageBudget] * [.3] = 300k ------> 300k/[7 First team members]= 43k per player

If you need more help working on restructuring or need advice on anything else feel free to message me :)
