Bilbao question

Hi all,

I am starting a new game as Athletic Bilbao, i have previously managed them, with great success, on FM13.

My question is, in real life can Bilbao sign any Spanish player 16 or under with a view to them obtaining Basque nationality or is this just a feature in Football Manager?

I was under the impression that all players to play for Bilbao had to be born in the Basque region, can anyone clear this up for me?

Footballistically trained from what age is the real question here.
 
After a little more research and reading an interesting article about what constitutes 'being basque' i have come to the conclusion that signing any Spanish player of 16 and under is forbidden as part of Bilbao's transfer policy.

Just thought i would share this and if you are interested in doing a Bilbao save, certainly will make it harder than last year not being able to sign the best players from Barca and Madrids youth systems.

I will try this.

Consider though that Bilbao has a pretty good youth recruitment, so why not develop your own?
