I have recently added levels 9 and 10 to my FM10 game and decided to start at the very bottom and see how long it takes me to work my way up through the divisions. After much debate I have decide to go with Birtley Town FC as it is relatively close to me and also there squad is predicted for a below midtable finish in tier 10.
I have started this last night so have not got far yet, mainly just a few friendlies and a load of free signings which I will get screen shots of on here as soon as possible. I am not at home at the moment so that will have to wait for tonight. I just thought I would state on here what I am intending to do.
I will update as regularly as I can as to my progress and include screen shots of what I manage to do. Pre season started badly and marginally improved although thats mainly because I have managed to tighten my defence to concede less. Main problem is that I am just not scoring enough or creating enough really. Not the easiest to remedy considering there all amateur contracts with no salaries etc or transfer funds but I am sure I will sort it somehow. I will update the results of the pre season tonight and all my free transfers.
Then the task of starting the league itself.... its gonna be a long road but I hope you will all be here to listen to my journey!

sorry there hasnt been any updates on this as of yet, I got on briefly last night but I have two very young children so they tend to take up a lot of my night! I still havent managed to reach the begining of the season yet although I have bought 10 new players all frees on amateur contracts of course and also played a few pre season type games just to try and sort out formations and players etc. Last game of pre season was last night against Chester Le Street who are in tier 9 and I ended up with a 1 -1 draw which is a promising result in itself.
I feel more optimistic now considering how badly pre season started, I still havent managed to win one yet but at least defense seems to be a bit tighter now and I have replaced a big bulk of the team so its gonna take a while for them to settle in although the fans seem to be reacting well to all my new signings, all 10 have apparently impressed them which is a bonus.
I just need them to settle quickly as media predictions arent the best and I just dont seem to be able to create many chances or score. Also the frustrating thing for me is the fact the players seem to hang on to the ball way too much so much so that the opposition steal it off them. I would rather them move it around quicker and have changed tactics to show this but it doesnt seem to have made much difference at the moment. Does anyone have any ideas how I can rectify this?
Sorry for no real information on this but its all on my laptop at home. I will try and get screen shots on here tonight if I can with my new signings as well as other info about results etc. I intend to see this one out for as long as I can. I hope you will all enjoy it!

I didnt manage to get much done last night on the game, managed to play the first 5 games of the season only. I have taken screen shots but just not had time to upload them yet, all seems to be going well at the moment considering the low expectations of the board and the media.
I started my season against Washington who had previous been relegated from tier 9, odds were stacked against me but a resolute display saw me come out with a respectable 0 - 0 performance.
I then played Thornaby and despite taking a lead just before half time, I conceded a sloppy equaliser early into the second half which resulted in a 1 - 1 draw which I was content with but I just dont seem to be creating enough chances.
I then played my next game against Northumbria and I was favourite for this one, I took a lead half way through the first half and then extended this early in the second half. I bombarded their goal and was unlucky to only score twice. I was really pleased with this performance and the result.
My next match was another bore draw, another 0 - 0 but at least I am not conceding. Once again though, attacking wise I dont seem to create enough in the final third and then my strikers seem to miss the target.
I then went on to play Hebburn away, They are on a good run of form and I would of been happy with a 0 - 0 draw from this to be honest. Things seemed tight and both teams missed good chances but midway through the second half, a 25 yeard screamer by my AMC David Bird was enough to win it. I was pleased with this win and it had taken Birtley FC to 6th in the table and only 1 point from 2nd.
I seem to have the defense sorted and my defenders are all playing well. I have still not decided on the best formation or style to play yet and I have been named by the media at the tinkerer. I just dont seem to score enough, scoring only 4 goals in 5 games with 2 of them for my DC Ward. However it is pleasing to have only conceded 1 in 5 which is a good platform to build upon.
I just need to create more and score more to maintain my early season form although I must admit I have started more brightly than my preseason form suggested. I will get screen shots of this on ASAP to show my results and table as well as players signed and ratings so far.
