I have just found out that you can actually time waste on FM14! you have to go defensive or contain and then it appears in the instructions !! just a bit of info as i didnt know and couldnt find it for ages

Immediately, the first think I will tell you, unless you have players with decent composure + concentration, i wouldn't be trying to use this as a tactic since it invites pressure.

Retian possession, clear ball out to flanks, low tempo and support/defensive roles focuses on setting up passing opportunities.

The obvious question being how composure & concentration relates to wasting time with throw-ins & goal kicks etc?

Time wasting can be done by any team, by any player, of any standard. I employ the time wasting tactic when it hits 80mins & also drop much deeper defensively if I'm absolutely clinging on defending a narrow lead against a team of greater quality.

I think he is referring to if you are trying to time waste against a team that is still chasing and pressing the game hard. Bearing in the majority of time wasting will be done with the ball in play.

Fair point - my experience of time wasting when opposition teams have come to Torquay is antics when the ball is out of play or after fouls are committed etc. Breaks in play involved kicking the ball away, slow throw ins / corners / goal kicks. Staying down pretending to be injured.

I think you can do both implement the time wasting and add the instructions could work well side by side, i put time wasting on with 15 to go 2-0 and it ended up 2-2 but i always remember reading somewhere on the game not to do it too early or it could backfire, if it says that in the game i am now steering clear until 81st 82nd minute, but deffo gonna try the instuctions from Brendn say with 20 to go
