Hello I would just like some help and advice on playing with two box to box midfielders. I know you guys are thinking that having two box to box midfieders in central midfield is crazy. I have read that the 11.3 match engine does well in ensuring that one of the midfielders stays back if the other bombs forward creating a double pivot. I will be playing a 4231 with Arsenal.

The two midfielders will be set to box to box support. Ideally I want one midfielders to have higher defensive stats i.e tackling, positioning, aggression. I was thinking of lowering the mentality of the player with better defensive stats so that he drops back into defense more. The other midfielder will be a bit more attacking arriving in the box late.

I have no idea how this will work so I am hoping to get some advice from the more experienced tactical minds.

I have used this in the past, you can pretty much make Box to box mid (role set in tactic) and ask him via PI's to play like an Adv Playmaker - attack if you want to :)

as you said, the 1 with better D stats should be given a lower attacking mentality as well as a never run from deep and sometimes run with ball etc etc...
