Amazing- been working on a tactic for LFC for ages. Dominating with it now- won league titles by 13 + points two seasons in a row, as well as league and FA Cup too.
Retain possession and be more disciplined for more difficult teams. The key to the chances is to *pass into space*- it's something I always ignored, but honestly, with the wide playmakers and a really useful all round striker, you are ALWAYS in a game in terms of snatching something on the break too.
Also try to play people on the flank opposite to their foot as well- cutting inside is key for overlapping fullbacks.
EDIT thanks for feedback on post- here are some pics to go with it. I'm trialling with a few other teams and it is holding firm! I would say that the best thing about this tactic is that you can tighten things up so simply (see above) and also become more expansive quite easily too.
OPPOSITION INSTRUCTIONS I would try to keep this to a minimum, although, if you like to be a bit more prescriptive, do it through the tactics screen and close down wingers and attacking midfielders all of the time.
TRAINING Let your assistant (who must have a high tactical training and determination stat) deal with the general training, and set all of your match training to defensive positioning
SET PIECES All done for you- man marking is set up and so on- a couple of attacking deeper set pieces that work for me also thrown in there too, but obv feel free to change
KEY POSITIONS for me, key positions are the wide playmakers- they will create chances and drive into final third of the pitch, ensuring the game is played in the oppo half more than yours. The AMC is important- will contribute important goals when needed- I have Erikksen but I'd be lying if I said I knew of a cheaper options- I need to to a new save with a smaller team to test this in terms of cheaper players.
UPDATE- won championship by 8 points with Wolves- predicted finish 12. This formation works!
