FM15 Story - League 2 Randomly Chosen
BURY FC

View attachment 312628

So first of all, I've being following quite a few stories on here, and must say all are fantastic. Ive now finally took the plunge to sign up and tell a few people how great there stories are, being a LFC fan Brendn's story has being a massive inspiration. I also love the Journeyman story and The Swans Fly High. (Sorry can't link the other two yet)

Can see his story here -> http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...stories/181141-liverpool-f-c-5-year-plan.html

As this is my first attempt at anything like this, I imagine my layout and writing won't be the best, so any tips/criticism you guys can offer will be fantastic and ill be sure to try take them all on board.

I wont be using a top 4 team, I'll be taking a challenge and doing something I haven't done before and venturing into league 2, letting FM choose a random team for me (Happened to be Bury FC) and hopefully lead them to a bit of glory. I will layout a more in-depth plan further on when I get a idea of the team.

Press Conference

Press Conference with Stewart Day, Bury Chairman, and Reporters.

Reporter: "How come the sudden change Stewart?"
Stewart: "Unfortunately David had to return home, due to family issues, I can't say much more on the matter, apart from we wish David and his family all the best, and as sad as we are seeing him leaving, we understand and are here for him in this difficult situation."
Reporter:
"So whats the next step for Bury now?"
Stewart:
"Well we've currently interviewed a number of candidates and have finally chosen the future for Bury FC, a few of you may be surprised with our choice."
Reporter: "Why will we be surprised Stewart?"
Stewart: "Well, he's only 22 Years old, this his first venture into the business and although we know this could back fire hugely, we've seen his idea's, what he wants the club to achieve and how he wants the team to play, he may lack experience, but the determination and the dedication he has shown us is enough for us to give him a chance. So let me introduce the new manager of Bury FC, I welcome, Daniel Sheard."
Reporter: "Erm, Good Morning Daniel, So I imagine this must come as a big a shock to you as it does to us?"
Daniel: "Good Morning. Well yes and no, I put a lot of time into preparing for my interview, showing the board and the chairman what I want, where I want to push the club and how I want to do it, I wouldn't have put myself forward if I didn't think I could do it, but on the other hand, getting the 1 year contract could have being seen as a shock, but now the hard work starts and I need to get the lads ready for the season."
Reporter: "Well, good answer, we understand you will want to get out on the field as soon as possible so will keep this short, what's your aim for the year?"
Daniel: "Promotion. It has to be, I've got a year on my contract to show the board, the chairman and the fans that I can do a job here, the best way to do that is to win promotion. A nice cup run would be great for the team and the fans, but ultimately promotion has to be my goal"
Reporter: "Well, we wish you the best of luck and hopefully this is a start of a long and successful career."
Daniel: "Thank you, no doubt I'll be seeing you all again soon, good bye for now."

So there you have it, FM chose Bury FC for me.

Bury FC

History and Predication

So, Fm decide my team to manage was Bury FC, after looking at there team and media predictions I was happy with this.Firstly I received a nice welcome from the chairman, had my interviews with the assistant and the staff at the club, then progressed to look at the history of the club. The media predication was 4th, which I had no idea what to think of, decided i'd pay more attention to my preseason and hopefully a good preseason can push me on to hit a promotion place. Although the media have predicated a 4th position, promotion is my goal, Bury have a decent team, a promotion challenge is easily achieved with a few additions.

Preseason

So I decided to get straight into my preseason to allow me to get a better understanding of the team, the first game was against the u21's. Throughout the season I won't be putting screenshots of all the games, as I've found personally sometimes I enjoy seeing them, other times I enjoy seeing just a overview of the month, so I'll try not to overload with information, but give enough.

View attachment 312615
Well, a 2-1 victory against the u21's, however a few of my first team we're involved in the squad as I (rookie mistake) allowed some players to play for the u21's without realising what I was doing.

Vitesse
View attachment 312614
Bit of a crazy match, a 7-4 victory in a preseason, at least my team can score goals. I did dominate possession, however more pleasing was having 10 shots on target, and 7 finding the net!

Newport Co
View attachment 312611
Newport Co, a first test against what I'm up against in this division, ended as a 2-2 draw, but I'll take that for a preseason friendly.

Radcliffe Boro
View attachment 312610
Pretty happy with this, shame about not keeping a clean sheet, but managed 3 goals away from home, a nice 3-1 away victory.

Brentford
View attachment 312609
A home match against Championship team Brentford, and a very very pleasing victory, a clean sheet, and a 1-0 victory.

Chesterfield
View attachment 312608
Another match against higher ranked opposition, a bit of a boring game in all honesty 0-0 draw, with 15 shots on target combined, god knows how we saw no goals, however, a unbeaten preseason which will lead us into the season opener against Cheltenham.

Good start to the story pal, great layout and not to much writing, but enough detail

Transfers

One thing that really interested me when taking over Bury, was that the Senior Affiliate was Man City, now being a LFC fan, I wasn't to keen on this, however the number of players available to me surprised me, and being lower down in the leagues meant I really had to watch my wage budget, so instead of bringing players in permanently, I decided to take advantage of the loan market.

Instead of going through the whole team, I'll try be brief. The squad was okay, a few quite old players who I let go due to eating up my wage budget. The loanee's were all young, one of my most promising players came from the other side of Manchester, United.

Andreas Pereira
View attachment 312604

As you can see, technically a very talented youngster, and for my league hopefully one of the best. Will be keeping a eye on him as his contract ends at the end of the season!

David Simoncini
View attachment 312602
I managed to snap this guy up on a free! For league 2, or even league 1 he can do a great job. £700 per week didn't kill the wage budget that much either.

The three Man City players I brought in, involved a CB, a CM and CB/RB who can start and offer cover 'when' I hit that dreaded injury month. Chuba Akpom was brought in to offer some extra cover up front, with Ryan Lowe who looks to be my number 1 striker, however well into his 30's I cant see him playing 3 games in a week.

The players I let go were all past it, and just taking a nice weekly pay check, apart from James Poole who just didn't look like he could add anything to my team. Sorry mate..

The reason I decided to loan my players in was the chance of signing them on a free, a few of these guys contracts run out at the end of the season, so hopefully I can become one of there liked people and try get a decent free signing or two.

When playing the game, I like to tackle it month by month, and I've seen a few other stories doing this so I'll be doing something similar to that.

The start of the season was here..

View attachment 312600

4 out of 6 games at home, really want to try make sure I have a solid home performance for my fans. Being from Bradford makes the Capital One Game against the Bantams that bit more tastier, would love a good cup run but it's going to be a difficult game!

Cheltenham [H]
A bore draw here 1-1, managed 18 shots on goal compared to Cheltenham's 5.. Yet we only managed to put one in the back of the net.. Not to disappointing as the tactics are still being learned and the teams still gelling together. Nicky Adams getting on the score sheet here.

Bradford [H] COC
A great game, not a great result. We had 65% possession and took the lead on 11 minutes thanks to Mathias Bossaerts. Bradford managed to hammer our goal with 18 shots, however only got a break through in the 70th minute, then it all fell apart.. A 1-3 defeat, however can't be to harsh on the performance was always gonna be a tough game.

Hartlepool [A]
A very solid performance here away from home, a nice 3-1 victory, managed a pleasing 22 shots on target, however only hit the target 8 times which is a bit disappointing.. Goals from Chuba Akpom, Duane Holmes and Seko Fofana.

Luton [A]
Another pleasing 4-2 victory, against a decent Luton team. Although the score line says we were clear winners, it could have gone either way, 50/50 possession, similar shots on target, just we seemed to be the more clinical. Goals from Ryan Lowe (2), Nicky Adams and Chuba Akpom.

Plymouth [H]
Really gutted not to have gotten a clean sheet here, but the 3-1 victory will do. Plymouth only managed 2 shots on target which shows how much we controlled this game. Another goal from Ryan Lowe and Nicky Adams, with Tom Soares completing the goals.

Accrington [H]
Finally achieved a clean sheet this month, and an unbeaten league campaign so far! 3-0 victory with Chuba Akpom claiming two goals, and having one disallowed! Ryan Lowe getting the third goal. Very strong display limiting them to two long range shots, none on target and allowing them only 40% possession. Good End to the month.

Overall a very good opening month. A bit disappointing with the Capital One exit, however with the league being my number one priority I can't complain at all. The players seem to be settling in, and the tactics around 75% so still room for improvement! One thing I have noticed is quite a few players contracts finish at the end of the season, so Christmas could be a busy period.

View attachment 312599

Player Of The Month:

Id love to chose a player of the month, however with numerous good displays from the two strikers, and Nicky Adams playing consistently well I'd have to give it to all three of them, Nicky Adams, Ryan Lowe and Chuba Akpom.

Manger of the Month award! After an unbeaten month in the league was awarded the manager of the month award, and to top it of we were sat top of the table!

Only two home games this month, one away game against Shrewsbury in the Johnstone Paint, would love a nice win against them. Never the less, need a strong month to keep near the top end of the table.

Shrewsbury [A] Johnstone Paint
Tough away trip to Shrewsbury in the Johnstone Paint, If I'm gonna have a good cup run chances are it's going to be in this. Started of positive and took a 7 min lead thanks to Shay Facey, just before half time we had a 2-0 lead thanks to Nicky Adams (Again..). After half time it was Shrewsbury who scored the next goal giving us a bit of a scary, until sub Chris Hussey closed the game out in the 79th minute. Solid 3-1 Victory.
View attachment 312560

Wycombe [A]
A trip to Wycombe was on the cards next, a very boring first 30 mins. Wycombe took the league in the 41st minute thanks to Paul Hayes, the 42nd minute my young Brazilian Andreas Pereira got on the score sheet to even the game up before half time. Pereira then struck again in the 72nd minute with a delightful chip over the keep, however Wycombe kept plugging till the very end, scoring a equalizer in the 89th minute :( Probably a fair 2-2 draw in the end.

Carlisle [A]
Next a long journey to Carlisle, and in all honesty was very pointless. 0-0 draw, both teams only managing 5 shots each, feel sorry for the supporters...

Stevenage [H]
A visit from Stevenage here, and after two boring draws a victory would be nice for the lads and supporters. Didn't get off to a good start, with Stevenage taking the lead in the 20th minute, Chris Beardsley giving them the lead. It took us until the 51st minute to bag a goal, Ryan Lowe with the goal. Unfortunately that's how the game ended, 1-1 draw.

Burton [H]
Another home game, with Burton the visitors here, after 3 draws, desperately needed a win here for the table and the supporters, a few players getting some low morale as well. A very very boring match, nothing happened apart from a few yellow cards, finally in the 85th minute, an own goal via Jon McLaughlin gave us the break through, holding out for the victory in the end, a tough 1-0 win.

Exeter [A]
Final game of the month, an away trip to Exeter, could do with another win to stay within the top teams. We took the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to Ryan Lowe, however Exeter struck back in the 33rd minute. Not much happened until the 60th minute when Ryan Lowe scored his second goal of the game to give us a 2-1 lead. Just about to celebrate a victory, 2minutes added time allowed, and what happens, David Wheeler scores 90+2. Absolutely gutted. Another 2-2 draw. Twice this month now that we've suffered from very very late goals.

View attachment 312555

View attachment 312564

Well another unbeaten month, however 4 draws and 1 victory in the league is not the best. Will have to try improve next month If a top 3 finish is on the cards. Really disappointed that TWICE we've suffered very very late goals against us.

Player of the Month:
Ryan Lowe with 3 goals and two assists in a month when we only scored 6 goals in the league. Without him it would have being a torrid month.

Season Update: I wont be doing this all the time, but sometimes its nice to get a update of the season. If you'd like these more often/less just let me know :)
View attachment 312554
Not a bad month, still unbeaten in the league! Defintely need some victories though, them 4 draws are some valuable points dropped. Ryan Lowe's slowly become one of the stars in the team and his goals are becoming even more important.

Johnstone Paint Trophy N Update

Cant wait for this, Bury get Rochdale, fierce rivals! A massive game for all the fans and players, will be rallying the troops for this game!

October

After drawing to many games last month, this month really had to be better for promotion fighters Bury.

View attachment 312544

View attachment 312543

A tough month ahead, Portsmouth and Shrewsbury straight after each other, both expected to be challenging for the title. A tough month here, lets see what happens.

Tranmere [H]
Thought Tranmere would be a bit of a push over, having a terrible season so far, however Tranmere showed to be no push overs. That man Ryan Lowe scoring a Penalty bang on half time to give us a nice 1-0 lead. The second half we fell to bits. Couldn't control the game, miss timing the tackles, and eventually losing our first league game of the season 2-1, Tranmerescoring in the 53rd and 62nd minute.

Rochdale [H] Johnstone Paint
Ah, a massive game here. Local, fierce rivals Rochdale. Oh how the fans would love a win here. In a very tightly fought game, we controlled a bit more of the possession, and had fair few shots, however couldnt score, until that man again Ryan Lowe scored what was the winning goal in the 55th minute. A lovely 1-0 win from the team, which the fans, players and board loved. Smashing.

View attachment 312539
AFC Wimbledon [A]
A very clincal Bury turned up today, needing a win to keep our title hopes alive, we suffered a early blow as Wimbledon went 1-0 up after 15mins, only for Ryan Lowwweeee to score AGAIN after 17mins, Danny Major gave us the lead on the 65th minute and man of the moment Ryan Lowe bagged another in the 77th. Wimbledon gave us a bit of a scare with a goal in the 86th minute via Sean Rigg, only for Danny Major to score another in the 92minute. Solid performance. 5 Shots on target, 4 goals.

Portsmouth [H]
The next two games put us up against two top teams, the first was a visit from Portsmouth. However a solid display from our midfield gave us a well deserved 4-1 victory, goals from Nicky Adams (2), Chuba Akpom and Andreas Pereira. A quick view of the table:
View attachment 312538
Shrewsbury [A]
A visit to Shrewsbury, who the media predicated a top 2 finish, found themselves struggling down in 21st position. Althought we managed 14 shots, 6 on target, an impressive 56% possession, we ended up losing the match 2-0, massively disappointing, but will fight on.
Southend [A]
The final game of the month was an away trip to Southend. After the last game we needed to bounce back pretty quick, and we did, just.. A very even game, both teams scoring in the first 30 mins to keep the scores level at 1-1, it took until the 87th minute for a winner to score.. And Daniel Nardiello scoring for the Bury to give them the win. Get in!!

View attachment 312542

Overall not a bad month, we may have lost two, but we won 4, including against fierce rivals Rochdale. Ill take that. Heres a look at the table and player stats at the end of October:
View attachment 312537
A very satisfying end to the month, and I think without double my Player of the Month has to go to Ryan Lowe for all the goals he's scored, especially the only goal against Rochdale!

November
Injury Month

View attachment 312536

View attachment 312530

November approached as our injury list got worst. A Home tie for our FA Cup 1st round against Sheff Utd, and an Away trip to Preston for our Johnstones Qtr Final, could be a nice month progressing in two cups if all goes well.

Injury List:
View attachment 312528

As you can see, having 2/3 games a week is killing off some of our players, 5 players out, with 3 being long term injuries, as you can see, our star player Ryan Lowe out for up to 2 weeks :(

Cambridge [H]
First home game of the month was a visit from Cambridge. A bit of a boring game even though 4 goals were shared.. 10 shots all together, with 2 going for either team. Bossaerts and Akpom scoring for my boys.

Sheff Utd [H] Fa Cup 1st Round
Here we go, the first round of the FA Cup, how ever team dreams of playing at one of the big grounds, well, we go Sheff Utd.. Well, how my players responded, getting a 2-0 lead by the 76 minute, then Sheff Utd awarded a dubious penalty in the 78th minute which Jamie Murphy scores. A nervy end, but Bury hold out for a precious win, progressing to the 2nd round with a 2-1 victory over Sheff Utd.

Morecambe [A]
A visit to the lovely Morecambe this weekend, with our players on a massive high after the Sheff Utd victory we started off dreadful.. Going two goals down after 39 minutes.. Going in at half time 2-0 down. After a bit of an aggressive team talk, the plans came out fuming, and Chuba Akpom scored on the 57th minute, whatever I said worked, because 11 minutes later we were 3-2 up! Unfortunately Jack Redshaw spoiled the party with a 71st minute equalizer. A well thought 3-3 draw:
View attachment 312521

Newport Co [H]
A visit from Newport Co was next, a team currently in 4th position, who we drew with 2-2 in preseason. Goals from Chuba Akpom and returnee Ryan Lowe gave us a well deserved 2-0 victory.

Preston [A] Johnstone Qrt Final
A big game here, the quarter final of the Johnstone North. Preston took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute thanks to a penalty from Rory Donnelly, which later the Preston manager confirmed it wasn't. Bury hit back in the 38th minute thanks to Joe Thompson. Both teams entering half time 1-1. The full time whistle went, and both teams prepared for extra time, which unfortuently was as dull as the second half.. However, the excitement of the penalty shoot out was next! 17 penalties later a winner was found.. Preston had won the shootout, bury captain Mcnulty missing the vital kick, cant fault the lads after that effort. Bury lose on penalties:
View attachment 312519

Dag & Red [H]
After the penalty defeat from preston the lads couldn't wait to get a result here, and so it was. 20 minutes in and Bury were 3 to the good, goals from Fofana, Lowe and Adams gave us a 3-0 lead. The second half can only be described as madness. The final result was 6-3.... TO BURYYY!
View attachment 312517

View attachment 312526

Overall a pleasing month, not losing in the league and grabbing a few goals whilst at it. A shame about the preston game, but with some of our injuries it can be a good month.

Cant really give a player of the month as all the players played well, but I can post the league update :)
View attachment 312515
Starting to pull away from the 7th position now which is good, the board only want a 4th position finish, but how things are going i'd love an automatic promotion position!

Hope everyones enjoying it so far, if anyone has any questions, tips or thinks its s***, please let me know!
Thanks
