Is there anyway of buying rival players? I'm Barca and I want Cristiano Ronaldo, but I feel I'd have to pay something ridiculous like 150M and then he would even want to negotiate a contract. Would I be able to get him on free later or is he not available to me ever just because he's playing for Madrid?

You would have to pay a ridiculous sum of money, any rival club would be unlikely to sell there players to you.

It seems as long as they're at the rival club they won't want to open terms with you and the rival club will charge you well over the odds anyway.

I tried signing Coleman from Everton (as Liverpool) and my 15m bid got rejected whilst Villas and Newcastle's 6-7m bids got accepted. When I tried paying 16-17m it got accepted but he didn't want to sign for me. Newcastle ended up getting him, they got relegated so I tried signing him at the end of the season and he was all smiles to open contract talks after that - but in the end I decided to tell him to stick his contract :D
