I can't be the only one who does this.

I go into the transfer market and strengthen my team first, but once I have done my main dealings, I look at what money I have left and try to buy up old players that I've always liked watching/supporting.

I used to go in for Jan Koller, Freddie Ljundberg, Alex Frei, Mark Viduka for example.

FM13 I was playing as Arsenal and I went back in for Nwanko Kanu. Only played him about 4 games but I felt good about giving him a run.

Does anybody else do this? Probably not the best idea sometimes, but I can't help it.

I do that too, although in a different manner than yours.

For example, I've never played with Samir Nasri in my squads. He's the first I sell as City and have never purchased him with any other club. Once with Everton he would have been a terrific 4 star loan but instead I went for Javi Garcia, hah!

I always do this too, into transfer centre and organise by age (oldest first) and pick up some aging stars that I used to follow. I also do it with coaches so in my last game I had Roberto Baggio, Fernando Redondo Christian Vieri etc working with my team just because I thought they were great players.

Thats true, I do that with the back room staff as well. 2 or 3 years into the game all of the older players now have retired and I sign everyone up as coaches. I think I had Pogatetz as my U18s manager once. Haha.

Jari Litmanen is mine and when i do sign him ask him to start coaching and get him as my assistant every save lol

Signing Andriy Shevchenko as AM or Coach is the first thing i do.Recently bought Ronaldinho cause the guy was something really special few years ago.Nesta as a player for 1 year to tutor youth.Paolo Maldini as DOF.Legends...

I had Jimmy Bullard as a youth coach, I mean he was **** at the job but at least we could laugh about it.

On my current save with Man City i majorly overpaid for a 33 year old Christiano Ronaldo

I got given a ridiculous transfer budget in the summer of 481 million so just had money to waste :D

I do it with coaches - on FM13 I ended up with Beckham, Scholes, Henry, Drogba and Lampard all as youth coaches, despite the fact only Lampard was even half decent as a coach.

I don't really do it with buying players, but if I have a player that has been at my club a long time - especially regens - that aren't good enough for the first team, I always try to make sure they play 10 games or score so they get a winners medal if I win the league.

P.S. although on FM13 I ALWAYS bought Eduardo, partly because he was a good striker for 2 seasons, but mainly so I can think of what could of been in 2007/08 :'(

I always buy Jari Litmanen for any top level side I play with - especially Liverpool, not only because he's a great tutor, but he was one of my favourite ever players growing up.
Same with Alex De Souza.
