Aberystwyth Town FC Aberystwyth Town were founded in 1884 by brothers Jack, Hugh and Arthur Hughes. The team originally played friendly matches before joining the Welsh League for a year in 1896 before leaving it to play friendlies once again.
With the creation of the Welsh National League in 1921, Aberystwyth joined the Central Section, winning the title six times in the 1920s and the Mid-Wales league title in 1933 and 1950. They also won the Welsh Amateur Cup in 1931 and 1933.
Aberystwyth became one of the founder members of the League of Wales in 1992, the achieved their highest ever finish in that season, finishing in 3rd behind Cwmbran Town and Inter Cardiff.

There are three or four teams that could realistically win the league according to the bookies, Port Talbot are apparently the strongest team in the league, followed by 8 times winners and holders TNS. Bangor City will also be in with a shout for the league title as will Bala who will be hoping to upset the apple cart slightly. According to the bookies we will be a mid-table side, along with Airbus and Rhyl. Newtown are put down as the worst team in the league.
At a glance Aberystwyth's squad seems over-bloated with poor players and not enough good ones in certain key areas of the field. So I'd rather look at the good players rather than the poor ones.
Another 28-year-old, Chris will be playing in midfield, just behind Luke Sherbon
Tactic
I will be playing a 4-1-2-1-2 formation in which we will try to control the game and retain possession View attachment 301093
The positions left un-filed are that way as I believe the club do not have a player who can play well in that role, I have identified players of varying ages to fill these positions. I have also targeted some younger players in the divisions below ours to bulk out the youth teams and to offer the club a future.
The Europa League sneaked up on me slightly and as such, I haven't been able to bring in many players of real quality into the side, although a couple of players have been brought in.
David Stufhelder-Goalkeeper View attachment 298914
The team were in desperate need of a goalkeeper and David was the only one I could find who could play above pub level
David Thompson-Left Back View attachment 298909
Another David and another position that we desperately needed to fill, unfortunately another player of poor standard
Nathan Craig-Midfielder View attachment 298907
Nathan was signed on a free from Carmarthen where he is a club legend at the tender age of 22, he looks a brilliant player and will make his début against MYPA in the Europa League
Michael Burns-Attacking midfielder View attachment 298906
Michael is a younger version of Luke Sherbon and will be Luke's deputy
Simon Everall-Striker View attachment 298905
The team needed strikers, so I went into the market ad found a decent on in Simon Everall
Steve Berry-Centre Back View attachment 298903
Steve was brought in as cover for Thomas and Jones at the back
John McKenna-Defensive Midfidelder View attachment 298902
A defensive midfielder was hard to find in the market but we eventually found John after weeks of looking, a decent midfielder who will occupy the berth in front of the back line

I've signed a few more players now who will form our first XI

We signed another goalkeeper! Rhys Wilson was brought in for free from fellow WPL side Connahs Quay, hopefully he'll keep a few clean sheets for us
Josh Powell-Left Back View attachment 298865
Another left-back! Josh is a much better player than David Thompson who will drop to the bench
