People forget.... A football club is not only a team of players kicking a ball around on a Saturday afternoon.

Football is also a business.

This is my story.

As an avid semi-pro footballer in the real life and a budding accountant. It excites me to mix the aspects of both the loves of my life into one.

In this series, it's going to be different to your usual stories.

I'm going to show you a story in the perspective of the club chairman. Hoping to get results on and off the pitch.

Keep your eyes peeled for the first episode tomorrow when the club is revealed, and manager propositions are given.

This story will also involve its readers in a number of decisions which I or the club manager may face throughout the years.

Alfreton Town Announce new Chairman!

Steven Hart has been named as the new chairman of Vanarama Conference side Alfreton Town.

Steven had this to say:

“It is a great honor to be named as the new chairman of this club. It is my job first and foremost to get this club back running stably. From then hopefully we can push on, on the field and also off the field. We have a great stadium and a great fan base behind us so we have the structure to move forward.

My first job is to quickly find a manager for this football club. Nicky Law, the previous manager had a great time here and i'm a little bit disappointed that he decided to move on if i'm honest with you.

Over the next few hours I will be presenting you with the names of three managers who are high on my shortlist, along with each of their styles and philosophy’s.

It will then be down to you to decide which manager will take upon the reigns.”

Hello Mr. Hart!

why aint my name in the hat :P lol

But i would say Ince, gives him a chance to prove himself

Well if we would purely go for the statistics then Paul Ince is probably the best manager out of the three. However I would expect that to come at a price and since this story is more about financial succes then succes on the field I would go with Paul ***.

Just to let you all know the deadline is 21:30 UK time.

Alfreton Town announces new manager

I stand here before you to present our new manager which will lead us out into the 2014/15 season in the Vanarama Conference.

Please can you all applaud....

Paul has recently left his post as Mansfield Town manager and I think this shows the belief in this project that we are starting.

Paul would you like a few words?

"Well it's a joy to be apart of this revolution if you will that's occurring at Alfreton Town. I left my post in the summer of local neighbors Mansfield Town. I felt behind the scenes things weren't too great, this is one thing that pulled me to this project. The Chairman Steven wants to push the club forward on and off the field, and I fully respect that at times my job, maybe stretched thin for the good of the club in the long run. My first involvement will be taking a back seat and watching the first team play the reserves on Wednesday night".

Well Paul its a pleasure. Please all get down to North Street to get the first viewing of Paul's team. Entry will be fee of charge for this one.

I'm very pleased in which the side showed great determination and battle against a spirited youth side. We currently have one area which is going to be a key area to sort. The Goalkeeper. With no recognized goalkeeper we need to bring one in as soon as possible.

I hope the fans which turned up enjoyed the style of football Paul *** wants his players to play. Andi Thanoj was the star man today and i'm expecting big things from the ex Grimsby Town man.

Squad is at a good level of 20 players one or two may go and be replaced but one thing is for certain a goalkeeper will be arriving in the next coming days.

As we stand at the end of the current season we are expected to make a £103,000 loss. The first season our aim will be to minimize this figure as much as possible.

We've penciled some high profile friendly's which will bring a bit of revenue in for the club.

Our friendly list compromises of:

Pre Season Starts Tough

Pre-season has been tough. I'm under no illusion that this season will be a struggle for us. But i believe Paul and his team will do a great job and keep us in the Vanarama Conference this season.

The first official game of Paul ***'s reign brought in a crowd of 723 however we fell victim to a strong League 1 side with again not a recognised goalkeeper in the line up! Lee Stevenson had a chance to make it 1-1 and i feel this could of changed the game for us.

Wow is all i had to say after this game, a great turn out by the fans and a great result. I felt morale was a bit low before the game in the changing rooms and going down to 10 men after just 29 minutes probably didn't help. The situation worsened when Leicester took the lead however big Mass McDonald bagged two whilst playing up top on his own and came out a strong MoM beating newly signed GK James Beasant.

We battled and fought our League 1 local rivals into the ground. The last minute goal killed our spirit.

The last minute winner certainly killed our spirit last game and it showed in this match. We need to pick ourselves up ready for the first game of the season.

Overall an OK pre-season. Coxy is obviously finding his feet within the club and as great win against Leicester U21's and a great performance at League 1 side Notts County were the highlights.

James Beasant has joined the squad to be the number one goalkeeper for the forthcoming season. The 24 year old started his career at Watford before moving on to Hayes and Yeading.

*** Announces New Captain

Just to let you all know today Paul *** has decided that his Captain for the forthcoming season will be:

Luke Graham
*** had this to say about his appointment:

"Bradley Wood was unlucky to be demoted from Captain to Vice Captain I feel I have a guy that will start every game bar any injuries. Gray is a great leader and has shown this numerous times throughout his career captaining several sides. Hes 28 and has played at this level for a long time.

Gray knows the drill".

Club for Sale???

S**t me! I knew it would be tough but F**k.

Not one win out of the first 6 league games! 3 home games and 3 away games and one useless point at home to Braintree.

3 goals we have scored luckily our paying fans have seen 2 of those.

We need to pick up points faster and also start playing better.

The only good thing from this month has been 4 players signing new deals at £200 off the weeks wage bill.
