FM15 on Steam is currently £29.99, whereas it is only £19.85 on Amazon. I don't really fancy paying £10 for the privilege of *not* having a box and CD. So if I buy the game from Amazon, can I install it and then link it to Steam for the purpose of achievements, friends list, logs etc?

Let's put it this way, if you don't link it, you won't be able to play. Even if you buy a hard copy, you have to validate it with Steam first (there will be a Steam validation code in the box), and upon that itself will you be able to play.

There's a process to do that (most times, Steam won't detect locally installed files via external source and start downloading). Google it.

So essentially, buy it from Amazon, install it and then validate on Steam.

Sorted, that's exactly what I was hoping for :)
