how many players should you have in your squad i use a 442 system and use 4 people for each position my best player a good backup and 2 young players aged 18 + and loan them out with recall if possible id be intrested to here other peoples stragies

Personally I'm rubbish at managing large squads. I like to only have 1 backup for each position as I like to keep a small squad and give them all plenty of games, rather than constantly rotating.

I'm not a fan of a huge squad and try and trim down as much as possible, i'm not a fan of world class backup either, because i like to keep the same squad week in week out and unhappy players is annoying. i have 1 backup for each position sometimes 2, depends who is available/ or if i bought a prospect.

same i dont like having big squads as they keep moaning bout not playing

i have two good players for each position 1 good young player for injuries etc and another young player to go on loan

I like to keep 2 if not 3 players as backup. Prime case of this is in my Arsenal game for the FM Base CL. Gael Clichy, Kieran Gibbs and Rene Steer are all out with long term injuries in the space of 4 days so that leaves me with just Mikael Silvestre. Had to buy Steven Smith from Rangers just in case Silvestre gets injured, which is quite possible as he is quite injury prone.

Personally i think 22 is the ideal squad 2 players for each position any more and people start moning maybe a couple more young talents but i will send them out on loan.

I usually have a tiny squad. Like the starting 11 + 7 subs + 2 more on top of that. It's much easier to keep them all happy. Not to mention good for the wage budget.

That sums my management up perfectly.

I usually have about 22 players, my best starting 11 and usually a bunch of youngsters that are already decent and will be very good players in years to come.

To answer your question, yes you can. Especially if you have a large squad of players who want first team football and if they don't they moan and whinge, disrupting the harmony of your squad, which in turn could affect results.

In a 4-4-2
2 GK
2LB
2RB
4CB
2RM
2LM
4CM
4/5ST
:)

I have 24 in my team, i think 18-23 is the best. 24 is almost too big, some players arn't getting much 1st team action. I can't have my team too big, because players get annoyed by not playing that much, wage budgets could go crazy (i keep mine in control, but some people could struggle) and i always find injuries are like buses, they come in threes. Once, as at. madrid, Aguero, Forlan and Simana pongolle all got bad injuries. It was so annoying. So now i have alot of fowards, cos they seem to get injured easier.

I hardly ever go over 22 for the first team. I mostly have 1 back-up player for each position and if someone on my first team is getting injuries on a regular basis, I put a few decent all-round players on the reserve squad as emergency replacements. If the squad is too big, they tend to groan about not getting enough play-time, which annoys the **** out of me.:)
