Can't even get 10 chances on terrible teams in last place - help!

Try player instructions: shoot less (usually results in more on-target, less off-target) & for your wingers (get further forward) & for your fullbacks (run wide with ball)

Yeah noticed that after I posted, sorry. The current thinking with this match engine (from what I've seen elsewhere on this forum) is that because of the ME being so anti strikers, that it's better to have one main striker.

Idk about that, I always use 3 strikers, and I have a great first-time track record against teams in higher leagues (below are 1:17 odds vs Fiorentina and 1:24 odds vs AC Milan). I find it tough to keep clean sheets with any tactic so I prefer to just use 3 strikers and outscore my opponents.

So zammy, I found your problem: Look at my screenshots below, I used essentially the same formation and tactics for both matches and this resulted in very different match stats. The culprit: # of FOULS

From your screenshots, it looks like the lower league teams are always fouling you because they have worse players, and you are unable to convert free kicks into goals lol (you should customize and add free kicks stat)

Your second tactic only has one player on attack. That means that if he s marked effectively you will not have an attacking fulcrum.

Anycase bear these in mind:

1. In FM14 thru balls are quite effective. So instruct pass in space.
2. Weaker teams should be pressed to death. Hassle opponents, get stuck in, mark tightly/hard/specifically crucial players such as ams (check oppositiinxi for their best players and kill them). Push higher up. Dont let them breath. Start by pressing and if you cant score by 30th minute despite your dominance then increase (from push higher up to much higher line for example).
3. Google passion4fm and go to his site. Read his article on winning possession. Its on FM13 but his ideas can be carried over to current version.
