Been playing FM2010 with 10.3 patch for some time now. I've noticed that, with default corner tactics, the attacking side always leaves a centre-back in the closer corner of the box. Most dangerous corners I've seen are taken by passing to the feet of that player. The player then has a lot of space to shot on goal. The problem with this is that centre-backs don't do well when controlling the ball in opposing team's box, so they often shoot badly or get charged down by an opposing player before they can make a shot, but in large number of cases this situation results in a goal. In fact, I've seen overwhelmingly more corner goals from situations like this than from headers.
Now, I've tried to use the corner tactics settings to put another kind of player in this position which is taken by a centre-back by default, a player who would do much better in such situation, but I can't seem to find the correct setting. "Attack Ball from the Deep" will put the player on roughly the same distance from the goal as required, but he will stand in the middle of the box. "Lurk Outside Area" will put the player too far outside the area to be dangerous. Anyone know what setting I should use to achieve what I want? I can try to post screenshots if my description is not clear enough.
