Cant offer player contract!?

Hey,

I tried to buy arturo vidal (36) and they accepted the offer so i wanted him to be a backup player and he also wanted that but i can't offer him a player contract i can only offer him staff contracts. Does anyone know why?

No he wasnt retiring after a month i tried it again and now i can offer him a player contract and now he is a substitute only for tutoring hehe
