Cant seem to get into this FM!!!!

So since I got the BETA version a few days back I have downloaded all my kits, logos and facepacks and got it looking sexier than a sexy thing but I just cant get started. Havent even played a game yet!!!! Anyone else in the same boat?

I go Newcastle and after a few (game) days lost interest. PSG went the same way and so did Aberdeen.

Whether it is because the story thread isnt up yet so I cant fully commit to one or just because in the back of my mind I dont see the point of starting a long term save until the full release comes out I dont know!!!

I have no doubts whatsoever that I will play this game as much as ever but just finding it sooooooooooo frustrating just now. I have a weeks holiday now so would like to get into a save but it just aint happening.

I agree totally! I think it may be to do with the story thread not being up yet as i havent played fm for ages without posting a story at the same time!

With you on that one! Can't wait for the full release and story thread. Spent the last 3-4 years reading other people's exploits, so i've made it an aim to do my own story this year.

I agree, though the only thing holding me back is the much needed patch the game needs to stop the defender and goalkeeper mistakes, especially when you instruct them to pass from the back and they constantly hit it up field.

That doesnt even bother me as since I have played CM/FM since CM2 I play it old school style with commentary only and never watch the game so my ignorance hides the match engine faults!!!!

Regarding the story thread I presume that if peeps started one just now it would be moved across by a moderator when the thread appears.

I still have a brilliant save on FM13 with Cadiz and I'm finding it hard to get away from this and change over to FM14.

I have just this second loaded up a new save which I will try and carry over into FM14. If I like the look of it (ie got my staff and transfers to my liking before game 1) I will post it and a moderator can move the thread to the story thread when it appears.

What I would like to know is if I carry the save over will the bugs that are getting fixed disappear when the full release comes out?

According to Steam I've played for 10 hours but I still haven't even got to the first game of the season with any team yet (some people complete a season in that time).

I've just been looking at how the game works and looking at players etc. I don't recommend starting a "proper" save during beta as beta is beta and there are over 350 issues that have been fixed already.

yeah will probably hold fire. might start a quick save with Barca or summat.

I think the save contains the snapshot of the database only (my guess).
So it won't save the bugs (if not present in the db) when full relase and patches will go live.

The only reason I don't want to play to far is because of the national team fix, I believe it gets erased when it's patched and I don't think you can get it back without starting a new game? Is that right??

I have finally just played my first game!!!

Decided to try Arsenal - signed Papadopoulos, Corchia, Bennett, Vela, Hughes and Tielemens.

Beat Stoke 2-1 away in my first game.

you should be able to maintain the national team fix after each new patch, all you have to do is delete/ replace the appropriate files after each patch, making sure you do not load up and then save your game before deleting/ replacing these files... is that clear?

Actually, the national team fix works on games that been saved, so you should be fine

ahh hear lies a story of many people starting from scratch after a successful story! (Klippy you have had a few and cool i love your Limerick season, can't get enough!)
As an Aberdeen man like yourself i too started a career as Aberdeen and seeing as I was beginning to lose interest in my FM 13 save and after seeing why Stonecold hung up the boots on his Aberdeen one (played the save P 38 W 36 D 1 L 1 and champions league winners blah blah) have found having the exciting Gregg Wylde the technical Robson and the workhorse Flood i am enjoying being the Dandies once more! You really need to persevere with a team you enjoy and you'll find yourself having too much fun!!
