I have chosen a very fluid philosophy, play narrower, much higher defensive line in order to compact space....i have also chosen defensive wingers, ball wining mids, and one defensive forward...but there is little or no heavy pressing, even against my u21 team...close down more in player instructions and hassle opponents seem to have no effect. What am I missing here?

Do you have a team with high work rate or are they lazy? And how many matches have you played with it, takes time for a team to get used to playing a certain style.

I took crystal palace for test, and true, I only tested it in a few games, but it should work fine if I have set it up correctly, and obviously I havent. I wonder what I did wrong? Is there a link to some article that explains pressing well? I've been googling, but can't find nothing usefull..

What bothers me most, is that I have done it correctly in one of my previous tactical attempts, but I prolly overwritten that tac.

It seems I might be wrong about width and strategy. The absolute basic of pressing is standing near to your opponent, so that means I should use attack strategy and wide width, to keep players as close to theirs. Also, time waisting needs to be low. But, I'm still failing at my attempts. I swear that one time when I did get it right I had 90% possession and got that message at bottom "opponents are having to endure heavy pressing". I picked all of my roles with teamwork and work rate as primary stats, and even fiddled with more disciplined creativity, but just wont work...
