Can't start a new game

When i start a new game halfway through loading it says the programme is not responding. the computer performance and speed are down to 1/2 a star. I know you'll all think its my computer, but just a couple of weeks ago both were up at 4.5-5 stars it was running fine. Even when i try and start a game with only 1 league on a small database it stops halfway through. I'd appreciate any help and thanks in advance.

When did you last defragment you hard drive?

Its been sorted now. I saw something about when its in windowed its sometimes messes up so i put it full screen and its worked fine. Thanks for the advice anyway mate
