Capello is sacked from his position as Head Coach of the England National Team

FabioCapello_468x1063.jpg

At a time of great turmoil at England's Football Association following the resignation of Lord Triesman as Chairman, the new man in charge, Sir Alan Sugar, has swiftly acted to remove Capello from his footballing duties in charge of England in order to replace him with a new rookie manager, Sam Illyroy.
More news to follow prior to the upcoming friendly against Holland...

A few stories on England now.. And why has Alan Sugar got the right to Sack Cappello he has nothing to do with it in real life im confused?

good i my self started a england story last night i follow urs if u follow myne :)

So many international management stories now, but good luck. I think he meant Sir Alan Sugar is the new chairman replacing Lord Triesman

thanks guys :) loads of reply's already. not even checked the site recently, but I'm not surprised there are so many with the world cup coming up n that, that's why I did it.
and as for alan sugar, the reason is being that he's being linked with replacing triesman as head of the FA! so i've encorporated that into my story. next update sooooooon xD

Sam Illyroy meets the press at Wembley
england_badge_2.jpg

After his surprise appointment as manager of England's national side leading up to the World Cup 2010, Illyroy today announced his ambition to lead the side to glory, but without going too overboard.
When quizzed about what he thought of the quality of players available to him, he had this to say:

England Head Coach said:
We have a fantastic availability of players in the National Pool and there are so many players who could be a part of this qualification process and hopefully the World Cup next year. We have some world class players in our ranks, and I also believe we have some superb young talent available to us as well.

The most important thing to be announced at this meeting of course was the first squad of the new manager, and they included a couple of shocks.

Goalkeepers: Robert Green (West Ham United), Joe Hart (Birmingham City), Paul Robinson (Blackburn Rovers)
Defenders: Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Gary Neville (Manchester United), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), Gary Cahill (Bolton Wanderers), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur), John Terry (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton)
Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Lee Cattermole (Sunderland), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham Hotspur), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur), James Milner (Aston Villa), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Carlton Cole (West Ham United), Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur), Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Some of the surprises in that squad come in the shape of Gary Cahill, Adam Johnson, Leighton Baines, Tom Huddlestone and James Milner, all of whom are still awaiting their first England caps:

England Head Coach said:
I'm not trying to upset the status quo of the England side at all, no. I just feel that these players have something to offer us and of course some are coming in to replace players I believe are no longer playing at their best, and of course some are in to cover for the many injuries that we have to deal with.

James Milner - given his chance to shine after impressive pre-season form with Aston Villa.

The other shock is the return of Paul Robinson, a villain in the eyes of many England fans after some high profile errors in the Euro 2008 qualification campaign led to England crashing out under previous manager Steve McClaren.

England Head Coach said:
I think Robinson took a lot of unfair stick, and he is in my opinion one of the best goalkeepers we have available to us and he'll give us a lot in this campaign, I have no doubts about that.

Paul Robinson has been handed the chance to redeem his side with a first England call-up for over a year.

With the squad now picked, it comes down to August 12th this month, and the long-awaited first game of Illyroy's managerial career. How will they fare against a young and talented Dutch side?

The Holland vs. England game is a live televised match and will be streamed with live text commentary.

Holland 1-0 England
Live Text Commentary from Amsterdam

GOALFLASHES AND MAJOR INCIDENTS

20:00: Welcome to Amsterdam, and boy have we got a brilliant game in store for you tonight! England, today under new management in the shape of rookie Sam Illyroy, are being hosted by Holland, one of the most exciting young teams in Europe, for a friendly. England have a few new faces amongst their ranks and it will be interesting to see whether they make an appearance for the three lions tonight. Keep following us here on the BBC.

20:07: Despite intense national and media pressure, the manager has gone ahead and given John Terry the captain's armband for tonights game. Time will tell whether this will have a disruptive influence on the squad. Of course there is no Wayne Bridge in the side, so this may suggest where the manager's loyalties lie..

20:16:

Get involved with the action tonight at the Amsterdam Arena. Leave us a comment with any questions, or issues as the game progresses. It promises to be a good 'un here. The England squad list should be in soon.

20:20: ENGLAND SQUAD LIST
Robinson, Johnson, A. Cole, Terry, Lescott, Barry, Carrick, J. Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney
(Green, King, Baines, Cattermole, Huddlestone, Milner, Johnson, Lennon, C. Cole)
Arguably the strongest XI available to the new England manager. No room on th ebench for Walcott, Young or Crouch. That could be a question mark, but of course tonight is about testing new things out. How will the team rise to the occassion?

20:30: 15 minutes from kick off as the two teams go back into the changing rooms. The Holland squad list is coming in shortly.

20:35: HOLLAND SQUAD LIST
Stekelenburg, Boulahrouz, Heitinga, Mathijsen, Braafheid, de Jong, Robben, de Zeeuw, Sneijder, van Persie, Kuyt
So Holland have taken a diamond approach, and that team is full of quality. The premiership has already been graced by the likes of Boulahrouz, Heitinga, de Jong, Robben, van Persie and Kuyt, so England fans should know plenty about them. Of course, playmaker Sneijder is also a huge influence on the playing field for Inter, and he could prove a potential problem for England tonight.

20:41: Out on the pitch then for this match at the Amsterdam ArenA. They're going through the national anthems, and there isn't long to go until Illyroy's side kick-off for the first time. A historic moment for this most proud of nations.

20:45:

And we're off to rapturous applause from both sets of fans. A good atmosphere and it should be an enjoyable game.

20:49: Robben causes some problems to Glen Johnson on the left flank for Holland, but Lescott comes across well to cover. Up the other end, it looks like Lampard's through after a superb through ball from Joe Cole, but Stekelenburg recovers well to clear.

20:56: As expected, it's that man Sneijder pulling all the strings at the top of the diamond as he plays in Robben, but despite being clear one-on-one, he messes up the shot and Robinson pulls off a good save. He looks like he wants to prove something tonight.

20:59: England struggling for real fluency at the minute, but some nice team play gives Lampard a good shooting chance, but it's well saved by the giant that is Stekelenburg.

21:04: The single biggest pain in England's side in this game is the pace and skill of Arjen Robben, and he makes rings round Johnson again who is just failing to keep up with him. Rooney sees his first action of the game after a good pass from Gerrard but he gets it woefully wrong.

21:08: More good passing from England and this time it's Joe Cole away in the Holland box, but Stekelenburg is alert again to deny him.

21:09:
_46175647_yellow_card_44.jpg
And our first yellow card of the game goes to Joe Cole as he brings down de Zeeuw cynically after losing the ball.

21:14: GOAL Holland 0-1 England

21:14:

England break following a Holland free-kick and go 4 against 2 on the counter. Joe Cole pulls out wide before sending a wonderful ball across field to Wayne Rooney who has the goal ahead of him and Gerrard to his right. He goes for the shot and tucks it past an angered Stekelenburg. First goal of the Illroy era, and no surprises who gets it.

21:16: CORRECTION Holland 0-0 England
Rooney's goal is called back for offside by the linesman, and the fans are in uproar. Very arguable decision and England will be dissapointed with that.

21:21: Cruel game football, and England will be rightfully aggrieved not to be a goal ahead. Holland now starting to gain the ascendancy.

21:26: Holland are keeping a lot of possession but not making much of it. England on the other hand look full of pace and creativity and they cut open the Dutch defence again, only for Lampard to skew his shot wide.

21:31:
_46175652_ht_44x.jpg
HALF TIME Holland 0-0 England
England will probably go in at the break the happier of these two sides. They've played some nice football at times and been rarely troubled at the back. After a tense opening twenty minutes on that left flank, Johnson seems to be getting the better of Robben, which has been a crucial battle.

21:36:
_45687876_606.gif
Still awaiting your comments here guys. Plenty to talk about so get writing! 10 minutes to go til we start again, and it sounds like there will be some changes in the England camp.

21:45:
kickoff.gif
Back underway again, and England make two changes. Adam Johnson replaces the booked Joe Cole and James Milner comes on for Michael Carrick. Two England debuts, exciting!

21:48: Holland's turn to have a goal disallowed. Sneijder creates some space for a shot and the parried shot comes to substitute Huntelaar who tucks the ball home. Unfortunately for him, the flag is raised and it remains 0-0.

21:51: Quite incredible this. England have a goal disallowed just 3 minutes after Holland's. Johnson plays the ball across to Milner who hits a superb first-time through ball into Lampard and he tucks home before rushing off to celebrate, only to be once again drawn back by the referee's whistle. That linesman is flag-happy.

21:54: Milner tries to make himself a hero, but instead looks a bit like a plonker after skying a good chance. Cattermole will be replacing Lampard, who still looks bemused that his goal was disallowed.

22:02:
_46175647_yellow_card_44.jpg
And the two Cole's are both in the book now, as Ashley sees yellow for a clumsy challenge. He's replaced moments later by Ledley King.

22:09: OHHHH a glorious opportunity! And you would bet your house on Rooney scoring from there. The debutants are making the most of it. Johnson skipped past de Jong wonderfully before playing the ball into Cattermole who slid Rooney in with a wonderful through-ball. Rooney is in one-on-one and goes to slide it home and hits it a good 3 yards wide of the near post. Poor.

22:14: Cattermole is having a wonderful England debut here, as he puts in 3 crunching tackles before setting Rooney on his way, only to see his shot once again saved by the mighty Stekelenburg. Still 0-0 somehow.

22:16: After a dissapointing showing in the end for Wayne Rooney, he makes for the bench to be replaced by West Ham striker Carlton Cole. Huddlestone also comes on for Barry for his England debut.

22:19: GOAL Holland 1:0 England
_45676966_goal_44x44.gif
Cruel on England but they are punished for their profligacy. Van der Vaart sends a free-kick over and it's flicked on to Huntelaar who stabs home from 6 yards. This time there is no flag.

22:26:
_46253405_goal_post_v2_44.jpg
They're giving it a good go England, and they come oh so close as Cole turns his men before striking a fierce shot onto the post, and his rebound is saved comfortably. They've been unlucky tonight.

22:31:
_46175651_ft_44.jpg
Holland 1-0 England
Unlucky for the new England manager, but his side have been taught a harsh footballing lesson. We'll hear from the manager shortly...

England Head Coach said:
Yeah, I'm gutted for the boys. They've given it their all and just fallen short. We hit the post, and two goals wrongfully disallowed and away from home, against one of the best sides in Europe; we'll take that as a start and we can move on from here. I thought Cattermole had an excellent debut and Cole came on and gave a good shift so all in all, plenty of positives to take from this defeat.

22:33: So until the next game against Slovenia, thankyou and good night!
klaas-jan-huntelaar-3.jpg

Huntelaar's clinical strike seals affairs at the Amsterdam ArenA.

England announce two changes to their squad prior to the Slovenia match

players_122466.jpg

Huddersfield ace Alex Smithies is the latest to be handed an England call-up by the new manager.

England announced their squad today, and two changes have been made. Walcott slips from the first team after suffering a bad injury for Arsenal, ruling him out for 3 months. In his place comes Gabby Agbonlahor of Aston Villa, who is having a great time in the Premiership of late.

The other is more of a surprise as Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies, in excellent league form, replaces Robert Green who is at the other end of the spectrum. Although not expected to feature, it is a big step for the youngster who has already had a 1.3m bid for him rejected this season.

Match report of the Slovenia match to follow.

Just a spot here but in the Holland - England game, the England goal was scored.. then corrected 2 minutes later? Late decision ftw.

I think someone needs to take up a new challenge rather than England, but good luck and hope you do well.
