New Job Press Conference

The League Paper: You stand here today as the new Cardiff manager. As a big fan of the club, surely this must be a dream come true.

I have dreamt of this moment for years.

Wales on Sunday: What is your tactical approach to the game.

I prefer to play an attractive attacking game

The League paper:How involved do you intend to be with the overall running of the club

I intend to be heavily involved in every aspect of the club

Wales on Sunday: Would you agree with the assessment that you already know who and who doesn't fit in your plans

It would be unfair to make definitive decisions regarding players until I've seen them play first

Wales on Sunday: Your reports suggest you are confident in your plans. What do you feel to be the greatest aspect of your team.

Midfield

Wales on Sunday: Is there one player in particular

Peter Whittingham

PRE-SEASON

A good load of Pre-Season Friendlies, the only defeat coming against Rangers who are undoubtably the better side there. Won the games we should have but maybe could have won by a bigger margin, but hey, a wins a win

Transfers

I feel I've made some great transfers considering I started with a budget of £0 so could only rely on Free's and Loan's. Really happy with the signings of new captain Sol Campbell and on loan from Celtic Mark Wilson. Sold Capaldi and Rae to get some money and managed to buy Samuel from Levante who should prove to be a great piece of business.

Next Update will most probably be tomorrow.

good luck i will be following good signings as well mate :)

August 2009

An average month for the Bluebirds in the League. Excellent in the League Cup.

Cardiff 2-1 Scunthorpe (COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP)

Good start to the season. First Half was all Scunthorpe and then Gary Hooper put the Iron ahead on the 44th minute. Got to the 80th minute and I was expecting nothing from the game and then on the 81st minute Ledley got the equaliser, and I thought I was going to get a draw. Then on the 87th minute Ledley struck again and bagged all three points for Cardiff.

Barnet 0-5 Cardiff (LEAGUE CUP)

A game which was dominated by Cardiff against inferior Barnet. Goals from Ross McCormack, Jay Bothroyd, two goals from Joe Ledley and Sol Campbell with his first goal since signing with the club was more than enough to sail through to the Second round.
Second Round Draw gave us Swindon away.

Blackpool 0-3 Cardiff (COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP)

A fantastic game against Blackpool started with Blackpool's Cyril Domoraud being sent off in the 1st minute. Michael Chopra replied with a goal on the 15th minute. The match started to dip until the 68th minute when Jay Bothroyd got Cardiff's second. An own goal from David Vaughan sealed the game for the Bluebirds.

Plymouth 1-0 Cardiff (COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP)

A boring and disappointing game where the only highlight was the Plymouth goal from Alan Judge on the 67th minute. First defeat for Cardiff.

Cardiff 0-3 Bristol City (COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP)

An absolute terror of a game for Cardiff. Bristol outclassed us in every way. Goals from Martin Elliot and two from David Clarkson was enough to embarrass Cardiff.

Swindon 0-5 Cardiff (LEAGUE CUP)

View attachment 37748

An excellent game by the bluebirds. I was shocked by the scoreline even though the Swindon are inferior. Goals from Ledley, Burke, Bothroyd (X2) and McCormack were enough to put Cardiff in the pot for the Third Round.
The Third Round draw gave us a very tough away tie to Manchester City.

Doncaster 2-3 Cardiff (COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP)

A lucky game for us. Doncaster had the better of the first half and Paul Heffernan scored on the 27th minute but Cardiff had a moment of magic from Ross McCormack on the 43rd minute to equalise. Cardiff then took that momentum into the second half and got goals from Chopra and Bothroyd to put Cardiff 3-1 ahead. Heffernan scored again but Doncaster couldn't find the equaliser.

August League Table

I guess it could be better but still a long way to go and in a comfortable position just outside the Play-Offs.

hey man, good luck with your Cardiff side. I've recently started a season with them too so I'll be following, both because its interesting and so I can compare how my teams doing too. Good luck man
