i'v just started my fourth season in the game and despite winning the premier league, fa cup, carling cup and making the champions leauge quarter finals i only have a coefficient rating of 86.776001 which ranks me at 18th and behind the other 3 premier league teams. is this normal or a common bug? or am i just missing something?

Your european coefisiant is only raised through partisipation in European comeptitions. You're domestic preformance has nothing to do with your seeding. The better you do in European comp's (over a few seasons) the higher you'll be ranked.
It also partly depends on how other English teams do in the CL and EL, so if they go far in either competition, it boosts your co-efficient. Hence Man City started as a third seed in their first recent CL season, whereas a team from Belgium that was playing in its first CL would probably have been fourth.
If your team is regularly qualifying for Europe, though, your own performances are obviously most significant.
