I've been playing FM/CM for a number of years now and I am currently struggling massively in Europe on FM11.

Basically I started a game with Real Madrid, just as a laugh to start with but now I'm hooked. I've won 4 domestic doubles on the bounce and I am only a few games from repeating this feat once again, its almost to easy. However, I have only reached the q-finals of the CL once in these years and I've been knocked out in the 1st knockout stage in all other years. One in particular was against Liverpool, I won the first leg 4-1 at home but was beaten 7-2 away! I've lost to CSKA Moscow, Fiorentina, Lyon and Chelsea aswell. My squad is more than capable of winning these ties and as I appreciate different tactics are needed for Europe my domestic form is quite a contrast. I've lost twice to barca in 16 games, drawing 2 aswell (league and cup), I went 68 league games without defeat at one point, recently beat my own record of successive wins with 21 and have not dropped more than 16 points in any campaign.

What the **** am I doing wrong? has anyone got any tips for how to prevent this? The games I'm losing are pretty much all the same where I 'fail to make chances pay'. How do you prepare for CL games when your considered one the favourites?

I will appreciate any help. :@

fair point! To an extent anyway, I can't remember a time when R.Madrid dominated la Liga like I am though but we're not competitive in Europe at the same time. If I was beaten by CL winning sides in the latter stages I would understand but I'm losing against no hopers and they are being turned over next round.

iv just found slowin the tempo down away from home can help greatly

cheers ryanod.

Its not the big teams i'm struggling against, its the so called lesser teams in the competition. I spank barca/ath madrid pretty much every year in the league. I don't normally struggle in the group stages either.

Also if you should look at your scout reports before a match and find out your opponents weaknesses, strength ect.. Sometime a little tweak is needed when playing away from home.
